Hey All Tobans,
Don't wanna drop a sad story on y'all, but this kid is in a sad situation. I moved to the 'Peg two years ago, and I have had a hard time meeting people to go riding with. I had a frienf the last two winters from Oakbank who i went riding with all the time, but unforunately he passed away way too young this spring. I am sure there are a few riders from Oakbank who knew Buzz and his passion for sledding and Goldwings, may he rest in peace. I don't want to seem seem selfish, but his passing left me without a riding partner, and I don't know any other snowmobilers here. I really don't mind riding alone, but if anybody would want to ride with a transplanted redneck from Northwestern Ontario (I'm a T-Bag Bay boy, just like Buzz), I guarantee you will not find a guy more fanatic about putting in miles (and mebbbe catching a lil' aiir) than me. I hope to hear from a ton of "friendly manitobans" who love to sled and will welcome an NWO boy into their fold.
Love and Peace,
Skip
P.S. I have discovered the secret to catching huge Red River cats, so if you wanna know ya gotta ride.

Sorry to hear about that, man. I was up around the Oakbank area many times last winter, and I probably will be around there a bit this winter too. As a matter of fact, I know the guy that broke the window of the Twin Barrel... sshhh!

I work with a T-Bay dude who plans to bring his sled out soon and he wants to do some riding also. I offered for him to keep his sled at my place. Sounds like he has an interesting sled... older Phazer with an M-10!

Sorry to hear about your friend man....
I don't really have anyone to go riding with either and am looking for some people to tour with...the guys I typically ride with are out in the Interlake...they don't do trails (no registration / snopass) so our rides are getting boring and they're never long. So I brought my sled into the city this year in hopes to hook up with some new people around the 'Peg and do some serious riding. Have only ridden in the interlake up till this year....
Sleds not ready yet unfortunately, still in the shop, hope to have it back in a few days....
If you are heading out one of these weekends I've love to tag along. Live right in the middle of the city though so I'd have to trailer to a starting point or something...

I wish we would have seen your post sooner and we hope you are still around. We used to ride with Buzz and this picture was taken 2 to 3 weeks before he passed away. We had met his girlfriend Donna on that ride. His 440 blew a piston so I was elected to 2 up Donna for 250 miles. Buzz was a member of the Springfield Pathfinders snowmobile club for a couple of years and we rode together often. With him being so busy his last year he was only able to find time to ride the last couple of weekends of March in 06. He is missed and was very fun to ride with. We would be more than happy to have you join us on one of our rides. Let us know how you made out with your search for sledders!

I'm out near Oakbank as well, and ride with a buddy from Oakbank. There's usually at least 2-6 of us riding together in this area, and we try to ride every second day! PM me if you're interested in going for a ride, we're hoping to start up our regular rides next week! (Depending on the conditions of course)

Thanks to all of you who have replied, I am definitely looking forward to riding with some, if not all, of you this winter. I would have last winter but I only ended up riding one day last winter

was busy with a course every weekend. Anyways, I really do appreciate it and have sent you some PMs.
What would be really awesome is getting a ride together in Buzz's memory, maybe collect a few bucks for the Heart Foundation or something during it. We could even maybe get a charity ride/poker tourney for the Heart Foundation organized with one of the trail stops (I am also a poker lover.)
Regardless, your responses have proven what a big heart that Canadians and especially Manitobans have.
Peace and love,
