Pro-X 600
Hey all.Im lookin to take the carbs off my pro-x and check them out and what not since the engine is used, but new to me.Wish i would have done it before they put the engine in. I could just take it someplace and get it done, but it would prolly be a few days at best. How big of a job am i lookin at to do it by myslef? I can get large stuff apart and get it back together(like farm equipemnt) but smaller stuff like this scarys me . I fear of leaving some needle or a spring out and having bigger problems than when i started. So some help would be grealty appreicated. Also what are some of you guys running in carbs as far as needles, and jetts and what not. Im gonna basically be running in 0-30F,and 0-1000ft....Thanks -Adam :beerchug:

walk in the park to get the carbs off. pop the top off the air box,
remove the snorkel tubes, and upsnap and remove the black
filler piece on the engine side of the air box[this is the piece that
the air box to carb, boots are made into] pull the carbs from the
reed cage boots on the engine and flip em' over. remove the large
plug on the bottom of the float bowl[i believe there is a small screw
holding the bowl to the carb also] and remove the float bowl. if the
bowls and jets are clean put em' back together. dealer told me if the
bowls are clean, the rest of the carbs are clean. i always run a bottle of
fuel system cleaner through mine in the first tank, stabil in the summer and
isopropel all winter long. replace the fuel filter too, there cheap. as for jetting
mines still stock, have to look up the jet sizes on the chart to tell ya whats in
mine. it's allittle fat but i'm not messing with it till i get some egt gauges. better
fat than lean. besides it's never fouled a plug and it get pretty damn good
mileage. good luck buttrock.gif

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead: WHAT A DISASTER it was...Well, getting them off was ok, guy got them set up straight(was a bit lean)Got them back early this afternoon, and spent the next 4 hrs trying to get them to go back on. I got them all back together then couldnt get the damn airbox to sit in straight and line up w/the carb boots...finally got it lined up, electrical was all bound up under throttle/choke cables...re did it all again, finally got it right... went to start it up...holy censored.gif took off had like 1/2-3/4 throttle... luckily it was jacked up, scary enough....got the cable adjusted so it aint goin like araped ape. it still sounds like its loading up or something i dont know anymore......long and short of it, entire sled will be goin to my mechanic tomorrow to get everything re-syncrinize, and clutched...might as well they are callin for warm weather sun-past x-mas.. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: veryangry.gif
Edit: what does the electical plug control thats attached to the carbs...it came off hard, so i put some electrical grease on it, now it barely stays on....

damn man, sounds like ya got a nightmare on your hands ooh4.gif
i'm assuming that u have a newer sled and if that is correct the
electrical plug is a throttle position sensor[tps] it sould only be on one
carb. if not it kinda sounds like the cutoff switch[for lack of better term
 ] that kills the carbs if the throttle freezes up, is messed up.
ya mite just be better to have a tech look at it, no offense. good luck
man. buttrock.gif
