I spent a considerable amount of time talking to a test rider from Supertrax magazine when I was at the Duluth Nationals this weekend. We were talking about riding position on the REV chassis and how it was uncomfortable for some taller riders like myself. He agreed with me and then later in the conversation said that Ski-Doo will be coming out with a REV Gen II chassis some time in Mid-January. I asked him if it would be less rider forward...he replied with "I'm not sure" and a big smirk on his face. Maybe this is old news/rumors but thought I would share with the you boys in the Doo camp. :div20:

If Ski-Doo abandons the aggressive rider-forward stance in their sleds I will be PISSED. Maybe a more laid back GSX, but for ditch banging and hard riding rider forward is where it's at. Ideally the REV II will manage to become even more rider forward, like dirtbike/quad rider forward. If not that rider forward I would say they should just move the motor down and back. The answer to uncomfortable rider forwardness is adjustability NOT fixing the rider further backwards.

EDIT- How tall are you? I am 6'2" and I comfortably ride a REV. I also know a really tall guy who rides a REV, I would think that he is around 6'4" maybe more. You were not uncomfortable on the REV because you are tall, you were uncomfortable on the REV because it wasn't the right rider positioning for you. Why would Ski-Doo make their sleds farther back for the 90+ percentile in hight?

Don't shoot the messenger dude! It's pure speculation at this point. The only concrete information I heard was there WILL be a Gen II chassis. I have no idea what sleds it will be utilized on or what changes would be made BUT if you could have been there when I said "Is it going to be less rider-forward?" the look on the guys face made me think that's what it would be...again PURE SPECULATION!!

I'm 6'-3" 225 lbs. I've rode 3 different REV's (04 MX Z, 05 GSX, 03 MX Z). I would be completely guessing but I would say I've only rode 150 miles on a REV chassis. Personally I don't like to sit with my knees bent that far and I have other friends both that ride Revs and don't that are my height that say the same. Ski-Doo obviously has heard some of the same comments because if I'm not mistaken they moved the rider back a few inches for the '07 models. You're right the REV chassis does fit the vast majority of riders it just doesn't fit for me. I'm not bashing the REV chassis...I was just sharing some "insider" info with people that I thought would be interested.

I didn't mean to be rude, I am sorry about that.

I don't think ski-doo would ruin what they have going here with the rider forward thing. I hope that rather than permanently moving the rider back they come out with a TRULY adjustable rider system. I am not talking Arctic Cat's system that barely moves(I have tried it out in dealers, it hardly moves the bars but the seat moves well), I am talking farthest forward in the same spot that it is on the old rev with the ability to move it 4" or more backwards. I would also like to see a seat adjustability, ranging from how it is now to a few inches higher. I hope that they do something to make everyone happy rather than compromising and making it so that most think it should be further forward and some still wish it was further back. I hope that the only thing they do isn't just quieting down the people who want it farther backwards.

Other than that I am clueless on what they have in store, I am hoping that the motor is moving down and backwards. I am thinking that snowmobiles are moving closer and closer to a position very similar to a quad where you are sitting on top of the motor.

From what I’ve been told, if you want to know what next years trail sled will be, look at what this year’s new race looks like. :div20:

Supposedly it's coming out at the X-Games. That is quite a risk because if it turns out to perform like shit that would look really bad for ski-doo.

Oh, don’t worry about it not performing. From what I here a bunch are already built and a lot of testing has been done. They are suppose to look and very good on the track. The reason it is not already common knowledge is because Ski-Doo has to many unsold sleds still and they don’t want to hurt this years sales.
