My Yamaha Phazer Mountain Lite arrived out here in the bush from Anchorage over a week ago and I still haven't been able to start it. Where to start...first I couldn't figure out how to take the top side panels off to get at the spark plugs. Even the guys at my Yamaha dealership couldn't explain correctly over the phone. Guess we're all learning this new beast together. Finally after figuring out the windshield had to come off to get at a third hidden bolt, finally got the top panel off to where I could just squeeze my hand through a small opening to get at the fancy spark plug caps or whatever they're called. Anyway after quite a while with a 10mm box end wrench got the hold down bolt for the cap undone, but then couldn't pull the cap up, very little space inthere. Tried to pry a little with a screw driver but was afraid I'd break the fancy cap, think it might have it's own coil in the cap maybe...just guessing....it's pretty fancy anyway with a long hold down bolt to secure the cap over the spark plug that can only be turned less then a flat at a time. Can't wait to have to do it out in the boonies at 20 below.

Anyway, gave up, put the bolt back in, charged this thing up again for the 3rd time and tried spraying starting fluid in the intake and still not a pop.

Tomorrow will try checking fuses which there are plenty of and of which I already checked the fuel injection fuse. Hope there's one for the spark. After I had to unplug the wire going to the spark plug cap am now wondering if I can get a voltage reading on it and see what kind of voltage is getting to the cap (or what ever this new thing is called...we used to call them caps and it was high voltage going to them. This thing looks like a little 12 volt set of wires might go to the cap thing. Help if you know anything about if there is a fuse for the spark plug circuit.

Mountain Lite saga continues: Talked to the dealer this morning and he's convinced the problem is fouled plugs. So tonight after work will again struggle to get the plugs out. Was also reading the owners manual and found a no spark problem can be from a T.O.R.S. malfunction. So will get after those spark plugs and maybe after that try to bypass the TORS. I guess those caps do have high voltage coming to them, my mistake. That's why I'm not a mechanic, or a paid one anyway.
