Alright, so chances are I'm gonna have to take out my jackshaft (broke bolt in jackshaft that holds secondary on :banghead: ) I was wondering, if i'm gonna have it all out, whether I should change one of the gears, maybe to give it a little more pep outta the hole. Any suggestions or past experiances? Thanks
The rig's a 96 XLT, and she's runnin a 1.75" paddle, so it hooks up okay

How is your hole shot now? With an 1 ¾ track gearing down might be a good idea, but I’d rather see you spend your money on putting new bearings in since the jackshaft will be out.
What will you be using to remove the broken bolt? I haven’t bought one yet, but I saw were you can get an easy out kit with left handed or reverse direction drill bits. The theory is the bolt could spin out from just drilling with the reversed drill bit. Sounds like they might be a good investment.
Good luck!

I'll second the easy out idea. I used one myself for the same problem a few years ago. Just be sure to use the appropriate size drill bit for the easy out you're using, drill in the center of the broken bolt and take your time. I have had great results wit it.
As for gearing what's in there now, also waht model XLT do you have, short track or SKS/RMK?

I'm not sure what gears are in there now, I would assume that they're stock though (don know if that helps ya)
It's an SKS
as far as an easy-out.....I have fought too many bolts with those before. I found a used jackshaft in good condition for $20, and that seems worth the headaches (plus I dont have easy-outs any more, and a good set is at least $20).

Stock gearing for your sled is 20/39, for the XLT RMK it's 18/39,that's what I'd try.You could even try 18/40, there are alot of possible combos.
