Has anyone expericenced a broken VES valve on the round shaft end of the valve on a PRO X 800?. I had about 2500 miles on mine last year when the shaft broke and destroyed a bore and piston on the clutch side. Polaris replaced everything but 300 miles after this rebuild, I noticed that the mag side VES valve was showing signs of distortion on the lower portion of the valve. Polaris did replace that one also. I inspected my VES valves after a 600 mile ride this year and I found another bent valve. A friend of mine also has a 2003 PRO X 800 and guess what happened at 2800 miles-yes, a broken VES shaft, piston, bore, etc. What gives with the reliability of these valves?

check the stops for the valve, if they are not evenly machined it will force the valve side to side until it breaks.

I don't know if your dealer knows this or not, but Polaris had a recall on the VES system on the '03 Pro-X 800 and '03 RMK 800. The valves were a little bit too long and at low RPM's when the valves were closed, the brushed up and rubbed against the piston. Some models were worse than others, and it sounds like your machine is one of the worse. I read about this recall in one of the snowtech magazines. Tell your dealer to contact the factory about this recall if they don't already know about it. Good luck.
