How's the garven pits in winter?

Some places are pretty rocky from what I remember in the summer. Some stuff could probably make for good hits.

well........I didnt say that, but.......Does anyone have a chip puller? lol

I was at the Garven pits a couple years back. I had a blast. If you go through them the right way, they get progessively deeper and deeper. You might want to go with someone who knows the pits though, there were a few spots I was told to stay away from, where people got hurt apparently. And depending on time of year, there's water down in the bottom. But I guess all pits are like that.

BTW, to the teen-bashers, I am 19 and I got my sled when I was 17. I didn't get my dad to buy it for me, I got a loan from my uncle for $4900 and paid it back within 15 months. What's wrong with kids who's parents buy them sleds? Regardless of age, if someone asked you if you wanted a sled and they'd pay for it, would you say no?

You can spell, and form sentences properly. I'd ride with you, but you can lead. Last thing I need is you crashing into me.

lol

and he would crash into you because?? dunno.gif

A place like saddons but not quite is Firdale. If you are unsure of how to get there. When you are goin to brandon on the # 1 just about a mile west of austin there is JJ's Co-op truck stop. People just unload their sleds there and go north. I havent been sledding there yet but I have done allot of dirtbikeing there and there is lots of hilly terrain and open powdery sections.
The Blaze
Garvin the winter is pretty crazy, DEEP powder but lots of the sand is still exposed. i know my way around there pretty well but, becuase of the cops(probably none in the winter, but still) i'm staying THE HELL AWAY FROM THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

hey man....is this place just north or brandon....are you allowed to sled there?
thanks

i started this post not to stay away from the 16yr olds but rather because it never fails that there are 20 ppl fighting to hit one kicker at seddons.

maybe if people knew of other places they would try those too.

clandboye is good riding, so are the pits between east selk and lockport but a little hairy if you dont know the area.

anyone got anything out the dugald, anola, way? i know of some pits by st.anne but have never been in the winter.

Too bad that Seddons is so worn down now. It used to be much steeper about 15 years ago and had some sharp cliffs at the edge of the bowl. The cliff used to be called the "crow's nest" because all the crows had burrowed into the sand on the sharp cliff and made their home there.

Dave, I still have video of when I was going there 20 years ago with my dad and his friends. The cliffs are very prominent, and there was almost some trees/shrubs on the landing to the right of the bowl.

no its about half way between brandon and portage. Noone has really had any problems rideing there that I know of. The terrain is about half farm fields that are cut outta the trees with really big hills.

There are some decent trails arround portage la prairie. Ya can go on some long rides. Go from portage to Delta. About 15 min north. There are some really fun sections to ride in the marsh the snow blows off the make and it is real fun to rip down the shore line super smooth.

And if ya go south of portage ya can get to the sand hills. Got some marked trails goin through there. Some people ride the trails all the way to trehern. There are some warmup shacks allong the way.

Yea, I'm sure that I have some pics also. I'll see if I can dig them up. I know for sure that I filmed hours of video with my buddy's camera also.
