I know a guy who is thinking about getting a new Phazer, I don't think he will like it because there is not enough H.P. (to slow)
What do you guys think?
P.S. I have a 700 Sabercat LX efi He will not be able to keep up IMO

How could he keep up?? You got 140hp and he got 80hp. Now if you put him in the tight and rough trails with you then you will be the one who cant keep up. :div20:

Thats what I told him he will not be happy with it . I told him to look at an Apex. As far as keeping up to a Phazer on "the tight and rough trails" he cuoldn't hang with me there either! :frech32:

I'd say you'll be surprised at how well he keeps up in the tight stuff....as long as he can ride well. :div20:

True, you can only go so fast on most trails, but give me a straight away and I'll be gone. There is just not enough H.P. with the Phazer. But it is a nice sled don't get me wrong just not enough H.P. :beerchug:

Depends on what's enough in his definition. If he's going to be happy with a 500 class sled then that's up to him. It is what it is. I really think that people who dog on 500 class sleds really don't know how to ride. For most general trail riding in NY at least a 500 is really "enough." It's the ego that wants the 800's and 1000's. And I've owned 1000 cc sleds for the past 3 years. It's all in what you want I guess and each person has to decide if that's what they'll be happy with.

The Phazer has the bottom end feel of a 700 4 stroke thanks to the torque enhancing system. It is an excellent trail sled. I put 125 km on this past weekend on mine, riding with a friends 06 700 EFI.

Of course the 700 is a better lake sled, but there is no doubt that the Phazer is a great trail sled. Lots of tree were down on our trails and I got through a couple area where the AC was having trouble.

Also the sled jumps like a dream, make sure you have the suspension on S though for the trails... Im 220 lbs with gear and it was still too hard, switching to S on the rear suspension was a huge difference.

You cant argue with 17+ MPG though... on break in... and ungroomed trails. hehe.

Don't underestimate a 500 four stroke. I've got 550km on mine and I ride with 7,8, and 900's and its not that bad. I've got an F7 sitting in the yard and I take the Phazer instead. It's not the fastest but all around if your buddy likes jumping and fooling around its awesome, and will still do 140km/h on good groomed trail.IMO :div20:

Yeah last weekend I saw 130 KM/hr pretty quick on my GT just easing into the throttle, not WOT. It was still pulling but I had to slow down. I figure I could get at least 145 km/hr out of it.

That's the same thing I've been wondering as well. Not so much for the trail or even going across the lakes, but what about deeper snow and off trail, is the 80hp enough? dunno.gif

The look has grown on me and I've been contemplating buying an FX as a second sled for me and to share with my 13 year old to ride. But for a 499cc sled, the price is pretty high when compared to that of other manufacturers 500 sleds. dunno.gif

Any thoughts from the guys who have ridden them? How do they do in the deeper snow, etc. Probably hasn't been much of an opportunity yet, huh? dunno.gif

Thanks

I can't speak for your friend as to weather or not it will have enough horses. I bet it will. I don't know where you ride but unless it's up and down the lake at 100+ repetitavly the phaze will keep up and the guy will be havin a blast all allong the way. I've had tons of horse. I rented a fan 570 cat last spring after my "big sled" blew up. Rode it loved it and realized lower horses with the right clutching and gearing is plenty snappy and thrilling for me. Pickin ski's on every corner and rippin like I stole it. Havn't had the phazer on the snow yet but around the house it seems to rip and stuff I've seen on the net shows it rippin everywhere I look. If he's into riding and ripping I think it's what he's looking for. My buddy's have been talking horses and I can't wait to play. Horses are for hay. Phazers are for play, I say!

The Phazer GT wont do more then 60-65 MPH in snow about 12"-14" deep. It floats, but doesnt have the power for more then this.

However, its an awesome trail sled, when the snow isnt that deep.

Not sure about the Mnt Lite, they are geared lower.
