Personaly I think you have cancelled VALIN to fast. I would hold of. They could get a big ass storm very soon . Ihave seen this before, If the girls would go to Church more often, and do a snow dance it might work.
GTSE800
We cancled also :o( But still, I hope you are right Bernard.

I called the Groomer in th Mount Valin area on Sunday morning Nov 19th and he said all the snow melted over the week and they had just recieved a couple of inches overnight on Saturday. No big storms in the forcast. We have cancelled our Turkey day trip. Hoping for snow soon :banghead: dunno.gif
MXZXGUY

We have canceled our trip to the mountain for the the weekend of 24-26th of Novemeber but am planning on rescheduling for a Dec 3-4th Ride Looks like two storms should pass through by then. Depending of course on the accuracy ????? of a 15 day forcast. I am leaving Northern Eastern Vermont and would be looking for 2-4 riders to add to a group if there is anybody else that is as desperate to go riding on the first snow. Pray for snow !!!!!!!

Our group was leeaving Thursday and pushed back till the 14th-17th just because the 15 day forecast was for cold but not much snow. Unfortunately looks like half our group will not be able to make it then.

What is the nearest town to look up for a forcast?

Check this link for weather info in Mt. Valins...not sure of the exact location or elevation but it is the Park Report for Mt. Valins National Park.

http://www.weather.ca/features/parks/pages...86.htm#longTerm

Pray for cold and snow....it is supposed to get down in the low teens here in Vermont tonight...so that is a good thing. Need that cold b4 snow!!! :brrrr: :fluffy:
dblacks
I would guess that it is around 500 ft lower in elevation than the ski lodge parking lot, just a wild guess
Andyman
The forecast for Mont Valin on the weather network is based on Bagotville Airport which is 521 ASL. The area around Mont Valin ski hill and Lac Jalobert are in the 2500- 3000 ASL range which explains the difference in snow cover between the two. That is when it snows!

I have not been up there before but am trying to find someone who has been to go up with the first time. The group that was headed this weekend have all been before. Still watching the weather forcast and waiting for snow and will head up as soon as conditions are good. Somebody needs to ride on the first snow before it gets trashed. You can email me directly and we can schedule based on snow.
dblacks
unless you really know where you are going up there you may want to wait till the middle of Dec as it may be awhile before they are grooming. As I posted in one of the other threads they are over 3 weeks behind up there know and buy the time they get really good snow you will be able to ride other places

there is limited gas up there and not a big section of trails that will be groomed once they start grooming again.

Thanks for the info. The weather forcast was forcasting a decent storm for next week now they are saying just chance of flurries and Ice between 30% and 60% chance. I doubt that it will add up to one or two feet of snow.I really need to go riding on at least two trips in December before my wife drags me to Hawaii for three weeks. If I can not ride before then I will be having really bad withdrawals by the time I get back to the snow. Got to ride that new APEX soon. Maybe a snow dance will help. :fluffy: :fluffy: :fluffy: :fluffy: :fluffy: :fluffy: :fluffy: :fluffy:

Cheech send my wife with yours to Hawaii and we will ride...LOL

warm warm warm, not looking good for early season riding any where in north east... :burp:

This is crazy stuff. I looked at the North American snowcover map and it's WAY UP THERE in Canada. It's early yet though and a lot can happen in 2 or 3 weeks. Finally getting cold nights here in PA and the ground is firming up. I'd like to see it get a bunch colder in the next 2 weeks before the first snow. Last year we could ride before Xmas and then NOTHING afterwards. Let's hope it's a little close to normal for both countries this year.

Well i made the calls to the people i trust the most on the hill and they report the conditions are the worst most have ever seen.

I can't belive it for the last 6 years this would be my third weekend on the hill and this year no snow.

Sounds like a storm over the weekend, lets hope so

Robert we are all just as pissed as you are. I get down in the dumps and my wife trys to cheer me up and tell me it will turn cold and snow soon! I know there will be riding in some areas soon but it is very hard to not think, is this a lost cause and take up lawn bowling. Trailer 600 miles every time I want to sled?

Andy

I really do feel for you guys, it's been a few years since we have been able to get a good loop ride in central NB.

We used to make a couple of loops around a year, but the snow as been so poor that we have not been able to.

I think the last time we were able to ride out on PEI was 2001? not sure would have to dig out pics.
