I am a "new" trailmaster for a NH club. Never groomed, but I'm looking forward to giving it a shot.

Love to hear any hard learned lessons from you experienced folks! :beerchug:

You may want to consider moving the thread about "show us your trail work pictures" (or something like that) or can you link that thread to this one dunno.gif

Think you get stuck at all this winter :beerchug:

Thanks Rob :beerchug: Now we just need to let people know it's here.

i'd make it link to here, I actually commented to John that I wish it was in the gen snow forum so it wasn't as buried.

Never groomed? You must be pretty smelly. JK. After your first week, you will have a newfound respect for all of those that actually help the trail systems. Being a groomer seems like a thankless job, but I want to let you know I apppreciate the work they do. :div20:

just thinking it may drive some traffic to this site from those that are active and therefore lots of times are the groomers. I jsut think these other sno forums get kind of buried out there.

:beerchug: <chugs for the groomers> They dont get nearly the :div20: That they deserve. I think this will be a great forum. Who could give you a better trail report than a groomer. Good call Rob. :celebrating:

Only thing I can tell you is this.... Its a thankless job, I did it for a couple years, and everyone is a critic. I can count on one hand the thank you's I got.
I enjoyed it, and I was good at it. But I got tired of giving up all my riding time.

I've been doing it for 7 years now, ever since our club opened up our trail. You will want to make sure you get used to using the mirrors on the groomer to look behind you or you won't be able to move your neck for a few days after the first time out. It is the most thankless job in the world but I do it cuz I love the sport and riding smooth trails, and because there aren't many people in our club interested in doing it, most try it once and never go again. I spend 30 hours a week grooming our clubs trail 2 nights a week, I always go after dark so there isn't as much traffic on the trail

Thumbs up for the groomers without them it would make for some rough trails.

jimmer, how many guys do you have to drive groomer? how would someone become an operator, i suppose training for it and whatnot. i'd be very interested. i've gone out a few times with Smilie from Sno Voyageurs and i love being out in it. they have enough guys there to drive them, just wondering you the trailhawks are looking for another driver so when someone wants out, there is someone to fill in. i would really love to help out on the trails this winter. let me know

I hear ya on that one. Last year we had the best snow around here in 9 years. I heard nothing, I mean not a darn thing. I'll take that as a compliment or "no news is good news". Typically, all I hear is how this trail is bad or that trail is too rough, you've heard it all before. Oh well, my goal is to have another "silent year", we'll see how it goes.

The grooming forum seems to be picking up a bit :div20:
