Hi Guys,
Wondering what i need to run 8" rear wheels on my edge skid. I would like to do billet wheels and get the larger bogie wheels to match. I'm also curious about the front inner wheels if I need to shim them down, I want to make sure everything is on the level when its all done.
Anybody add the bigger wheels and what results did you see? They claim 5hp just from billet and going from the edge 6 3/8" wheels to a 8 would be a dramatic reduction in friction. Thanks!

This has to be "mental horsepower" :beerchug:
To run 8" rear wheels you'll need an offset axle. I don't see the point in bigger idlers, except for looks maybe.

LOL yeah I think they say it takes off rotating weight (the billet wheels are lighter then plastic). Where do you get off set axles? Thanks!!

Those 8'' wheel kits causes the track to rub bad on the real cooler in an edge when one of our buddies ran one....maybe ok on a smooth lake surface but not on rough trails....says 7'' wheels would be about as big you'd want to try. I don't think they made his sled one bit faster either.

www.mountainmachines.com and fabcraft plastic wheels are lighter then the aluminium. i have all this on my sled an love it

Back from the dead, I would like to run 2 billet wheels on the outside only for looks, then get some 8" plastic ones on the inside from tracks USA. What does it take to run that big as far as offset axles and where do I get that axle? Also what is the bearing size on the edge 25mm? This is in a yamaha sled and the coolers are out of the way. Thanks!

I have the offset axle and wheels for a Edge skid, brand new, never installed $300.
This is for a 136 skid though.

If you just want the look of a bigger wheel you will get that by going to a billet wheel on it's own, even if it is stock size. When you take the rubber ring away from the wheel they look much bigger.....

Well if there was some friction savings and you really do get some help from the larger wheels I thought what the hay go 8".
Is there a difference in the 121-136 polaris rails besides the length as far as axles are concerned? I'm probably going to do extensions unless I decide to use polaris 136 rails. Thanks

with 121" rails, you have to run 2 stock rear wheels in the center or else they will hit the rear suspension arms. with 136" rails, the axle is mounted further back away from the arms so you can run 4 8" wheels across the back. the axles are machined differently.

I have a 136 track and the 8" wheels, yep it rubs really bad on the crossover guard. I had to set the rear sping to the firmest setting (I weigh 185). I couldnt figure why I was bottoming out.... The large wheels are why. I didnt notice any speed change on GPS, but the track does pull easier, still just losen the track a little and keep the stock wheels. Looks cool but not worth the suspension harshness on the trails due to having to have it stiff so I dont bottom out.
