Buddy brought me a 2000 XCR 800 to snap a bit for all round riding. It has a 136 x 2" track on it. Haven't had time to verify what's all in it yet for jetting, clutching, gearing. We are at 1100 to 2500 feet. Realize that topend will be robbed by track. Have set up lots of twins 6, 7, and 8's, but closest to this was an Ultra with SLP's. Would like some base line suggestions. Have had good luck with tempa flows on twins anyone tried one on an XCR800? Thanks all.

Own a 2000 XCR myself. Tempa Flow works well. Stay with 440 mains though. Add second airbox inlet like 2001 and later. Definitely install V-Force reeds. Set ignition timing at 26 degrees with TPS unplugged. Set TPS voltage reading to 3.77 at WOT. Engagement around 4000 rpm or higher. Clutch it to hit 7900rpm at launch then climb to 8100 on a calibrated tach. Polaris 64 gram weights should do it with a round almond clutch spring. Stock R-12 helix is okay. Or go to a Hot Seat 38S (50/38 medium aggressive shift). Chaincase gearing at 23/41 or 23/40 with stock 70 pitch chain.

Have now had an hour or so to look over this machine. To accomodate the track lug the front drive shaft has been changed to an 8 tooth with external drivers. Everything else appears stock with the exception of 420 main jets. I am thinking this relates to a gear reduction of approx. 11% through the 8 tooth drive axle.
This would seem relative to driving the 136 x 2" track and should work OK? Thoughts? Personally, I would be more excited about tuning and testing if the original 9 tooth drivers where in and the track was no more than 1 1/2". Somebody obviously tried to make a mountain machine out of this at some time in its past. To each there own.

Thanks for your input Patriotic Innovations
