Hi Excursion, could you you take a picture of the hose that you are referring to? Maybe with the clamp on. Also if the sled gets tipped on it's left side accidentally what procedures should be taken? Do you think it's neccesary to carry an extra air filter? I was wondering If you knew of any aftermarket air intake kit (cone shaped air filter) that would increase air flow and HP. Thanks in advance, Stan.
Go to Sears or some other place that has automotive tools and ask to see a pliers style hose shutoff clamp. They are often used by mechanics to avoid spllage when working on oil lines or coolant lines.
There is only one hose that comes out of the oil reservoir on the left side. It goes to the black plastic cone shaped cyclone or oil air separator. If you shutoff this line next to the reservoir, when the engine is not running, you can now tip it on the left side for service operations. MAKE SURE the shutoff is removed before you start the engine.
You should go thru your entire owners manual, a few pages at a time. The operation and maintenance of this sled is different than any that you have had before. In the MY07 owners manual, page 114 describes the procedure for dealing with the sled tipping on its left side 3 or more times.
The FST has a huge air filter, the engine is provided air by a turbocharger. You will not see any aftermarket filter that will increase air flow or horsepower.
