I've got an '05 ZR 900 and need to change the Diamond Drive oil. After speaking with the dealer. I found out there is no drain plug and that the whole cover has to be removed with the sled tipped on its side.

Has anoyone done this on their own? Any tips you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

:div20: There is a drain plug on the inside of the tunnel by the drive shaft. Just removed the plug and let it
drain out.(Only 3 oz of oil) After it has been drained put the plug back in and make sure the O ring is good.
Inside of the belly pan there is a filler plug about 1/2 way up the case.(you may want to remove the driven clutch) You can then refill the gear case with no more than 3 oz.

**You do not have to take the diamond drive apart**

Are you sure there's a drain plug on the ZR case?

Yes - on the inside of the DD in the tunnel. Just look in there and you will see the drain bolt :div20:

the 04 zr has a fill plug but no drain in the rear. the 05 has a drain in the rear but no fill in the front. the 06 has both. only took 3 years to get it right. i removed my drive and changed the oil on the bench without removing the cover. jsut wanted to see how easy it comes out.

Macheater, I may be wrong now that you mention it. My '04 has an '05 case in it and I had it out to swap tracks when I changed the oil on the bench. I guess I do not remember what side of the case the plug was on but I know it only had one hole in it. The gearcase comes off easy enough.
