I was always told to take a nice deep breath and release it slowly and ease into the trigger and you'll never miss.....so far so good.

Hunting the Thumb with the .50 Cal smoke pole or .44 Mag Revolver. Big Rapids area with the .308.

Good Luck to all.

No rifle for me this year...can't get the time off and already have a full freezer! It was another good first half of archery season in Big Rapids.

Congrats Sonbooger on the full freezer. As you can see I am writing this when I should be out hunting. Work calls. So I will be out this weekend. Good luck to everyone this firearm deer season. Be safe and lets stack them like cord wood! :div20:

It was all over for me by 8:30am, had a firearm buck tag and an anterless tag to fill, shot the six point first, waited a few minutes then got up to go find him, about halfway to him 7 does come running out of the swamp straight at me. The last one stopped about 10 yards away and looked at me, oops that was a mistake. Shot her and continued on to find the buck. I can't ever remember being done this earlyt on opening day let alone before Thanksgiving.

Thanks, she's my good luck charm :div20:

She stayed right out there and watched me gut both of them, she wanted to see all the "inards". She was non-stop chatter "what's that?", "what's that?". Didn't get grossed out at all, makes Daddy proud!!!!

Well, here is my bow buck from last saturday. No pics before processing, or pics of my doe. We bowhunt pretty hard, then give it all up, as the property owners rifle hunt there own properties using our stand set-ups. It's a pretty good deal if you ask me! Might get out with the gun just to hang with the old man, but any meat now will be made into fancy stuff (Jerky, salami, etc.) to pawn off on friends and relatives.

He is in the process of whitening, so he's a little gooey, but tomorrow i'll throw him on a board and let him join his brothers on the wall! :fluffy: :fluffy:

He was a 1.5 yr old :frech32: and dressed out at a plump 142lbs. I actually got him on video in late august(?) in velvet, then drew on him once earlier in the season at eye level while he was pursuing a doe and while i was looking for blood of another buck that was shot. he stood facing me and didn't allow a shot before turning and chasing off another buck. the woods were alive for us this season, that's for sure! definitly a strange rack. would have been neat to see him a few years down the road. we tend to get 1 per year that follow this trait, and allways chalked it up to an injury, but after 3 bucks like this in 3 years, we are wondering if it's not genetic. LEGALLY, he is a 7 point, as he has 1 point on the right that goes about 17/16" and one on the left that goes a bit over 1 1/8", but he was tagged a 6 (4X2) and probably will remain that way in my mind! :div20:
Let's see the BIG ones now! :tease:
800-LE
Its gonna make a nice european mount, I like the oddball racks, its pretty hard to get one thats typical around here

Click to view attachmentClick to view attachmentthursday morning at 07:15 A.M. 7 point, fair sized deer. What I found really unique was the dark feet, with the white in the hair and in the hooves. Never seen anything like this before. The rear hooves are next to the deer, was a tight squeeze in 6.5 truck bed for the trip home.

Had to remove them to fit him in the back of the truck, they were placed there for the photo due to the coloring. I have talked w/ a couple buddies since I posted and they have seen this before. It was new to me.
