I'd be happy if the temps would drop instead of this warm soaking rain. I was hoping for the ground to be frozen by the beginning of December but I don't see that happening. I'm going to go broke if we have another winter where I have to drive 5 hours or more to find snow. :banghead: :banghead:

I didn't want to say anything but it sure is feeling like a repeat of last year... I'm really trying not to be all doom & gloom though.

I hate to say it, but I would have to agree with you. Last November-December there seemed to be an awful lot of rain and warm weather . . . just like this year. Plus the other day my wife was taking a class where a guy was talking about water/soil conditions and he said that last year and this year were nearly identical in terms of the ground being water-laden.

And on top of that my grandfather always said a wet, rainy Fall usually meant a relatively low .condition winter . . . and sadly, he was nearly always right.

This said . . . I keep telling myself that this year cannot be any worse than last year . . . especially since the wife has put the kibosh on riding up to the County every other weekend. grinning-smiley-023.gif

FFJ, I said all summer I would NOT be riding this winter. I had really accepted not having a sled this season. I was gonna try snowboarding with the family. They make their own snow (the mountains, not my family). Traded my wife's sled for a 4-wheeler in May, sold the kids' Ovation in September, and sold my 600sdi 2 weeks ago.

My Dad was more depressed than I think I've ever seen him when I told him I wasn't going to be riding with him. Really bothered me. At 62 I didn't know how many more seasons I'd get the chance. So against my better judgement I picked up an '04 MXZX440 for cheap. I will be livid if this is another '05/'06 weather pattern. I CAN'T go to the County all the time. Got to be able to ride close to home. Greenville and Millinocket are both about an hour away - that's a doable day trip but I can't make a habit of it. I really hope the temps drop drastically asap!!!

Its only rained this week and a few days in the previous weeks, it hasnt been that bad really. Think positive haha.

I checked the Accuweather 15-day forecast for Bangor area and the 27th & 28th say 'cold & windy with snow'. I hope to see that a lot this season!!!

you guys all worry to much!! this year was the largest snow fall amount on the top of mt washington ever recorded. Also they have been saying for a while now this winter is going to be crazy...the bees built there nest really high this year, and that means lots of snow. Also if we continue to keep getting this wet pattern that we have been getting then we are going to get hammerd. Also last year florida got all those hurricanes and shit. This year they have got none!!! they said that had a lot to do with why we did not get any snow last year!.....think posative guys we will deffinatly be getting some sick snow!!!

I like what he said :div20: :fluffy:

I think we are goin to get alot of snow this year too, because of the lack of Huricanes and bee's nest being high like mentioned above... if this percipitacion patern keeps up and it ever cools down we are gonna get slammed thats for sure :fluffy:

Lets remember last year wasnt a low precipitation year. I dont even think it was a low snow year. There was plenty of snow and even more rain. It was unseasonable warm. So not to be the pessimist but it could quite possible stay this way all winter. Lets hope it doesnt.

Mass had atleast two or three storms that dumped atleast a foot each time. Our problem last year was it either rained a day or two after or it just jumped to 40 -50 degrees and was almost all gone by the week end. dunno.gif

So will this year be an average year for snow, banner year for snow or another bust . . . well I suppose we can check the onion skin, woolly bear caterpillars, hornet nests, check the El Nino/hurricaine forecast, banter back and forth on our own uninformed opinions, rely on Pamp's wet weather in the Fall theory . . . OR we can simply wait and see what the winter actually brings us . . . I think I'll make my definitive "This winter will be _______ (great) (terrible)" comment sometime in April when we should all know by then what this winter has brought to us. grinning-smiley-023.gif Here's hoping to a better year than last year . . . which I predict it should be since it can't get much worse than last year (although I did log some serious miles . . . mostly by going on several expensive trips to the County, Portage, Jackman, etc.)

today my dad showed me this bees nest on the main road... it was about 20 feet in the air. Cars were driving right below it. I've seriously never seen a bees nest that high before in my life. :beerchug: dunno.gif
