:no_bashing: Is anyone getting an airwave suspension?Rich
blade072
Airwave looks like a nice suspension. I talked with Gerard at Syracuse and it really is interesting. I am not sure how much it will improve the suspension that I now have on my Blade. I had a lot of valve work done on the shocks and it works great. I also have the blade for sale. Email me at blade072@yahoo.com.

No Im staying with my ExpertX
skippydoo
I have a m-12 in my rev and I ordered the airwave. Shocks are at fast right now. We had an expert in my brothers rev and it was not to good. The m-10 and m-12 performed alot better even after alot of valving / spring work.
Jim Camp
Your right the Xpert doest ride as good as the M10 at certain speeds when just trail riding but go real fast through like 60-70 through 2-3 footers and the expert really shines and its 8-10mph faster on topend
nrthmiguy
So your saying that the Expert is better in the rough than the M-10.Hard to believe IMO.Why do you still own a Blade if you dont like the suspension, air box, pipes. The only thing i found with the M-10 is snow gets in the coupler blocks compresses into ice and you lose part of your travel, which i have fix for it.
Jim Camp
Where did I say I didnt like the Blade ????????? are you putting word in MY mouth??? OR are you saying the Blade is perfect and needs NO Modifying If so Why the Air wave?????And read my post again I stated the M-10 rides nice in its bandwith the expert has no band width I see you live in Caddy Mabe we could meet in the UP and you could ride my Franken Blade And you be the Judge!!!!

Wooooooo chill out man! he was just asking a question, no need for a temper tantrem! :banghead:
nrthmiguy
Well in your other post you pretty much say the pipe is junk,"your pipe is better".Air box doesnt work"yours is better".Then you said the Expert is better at "certain speeds" than the Blade M-10.I dont "just trail ride my Blade, i ride it what it was built for WFO and even at or above "60-70 miles an hour"and not on smooth flat UP trails, through "2 and 3 footers".Yeah the Expert may have better coupling,if you dont know how to set up a M-10.And thats what its all about knowing how to set it up properly, for your weight, the sag, your ridding style. The quick jack feature really makes it a breeze.Does the Expert have that, no you have to get down and lay in the snow jam your hand up intoa wet skid to adjust it!As far as the Air Wave i see it as a upgrade if you can afford it.As is the M-12 or if you have the HPO the M-16.And as in your other previous post the one reason people are "dumping there sleds" is from opinions like yours. And as far as riding your "124+ mile an hour Franken Blade no thanks!I will stick with my in real life 1Wx 600 that hits 110 that is "repeteable". DONE! :banghead:

did any of the blades come with the ace or just the jack
nrthmiguy
They were both options when ordered your sled.I dont think the Ace is available anymore.
snofrog
I have the ace on my zrt . no, they dont sell it outright but all the parts are still available if needed. and a bit of trivia... the passenger side power window regulator motor from a 1969 Camaro works great as a quick replacement motor on the ace unit . ;^) Mark

NRMITHGUY Geez I go away for a week riding and come back to this post!!!!!!! Didnt Know My opinion had so much influence on blade resale prices. And yes the trails in the UP are good most of the time I guess Im lucky I dont have to ride when its bumpy and yes I Can afford an airwave or any suspension However I dont choose a suspension on weather I have to get my hands in the suspension for adjustments And Yes I do Know How to set up an M-10 And its doutful you could ride your little 6oo through 3 footers at speeds above 70 unless you stop and jack again and Jack again and Jack again and Jack again, the Expert you adjust once for your style and Your done, I see the mountain addiction rear sus and the new Easy ride or the new simmons ALL derrivitives of the single swing arm design. not one copy of an M-10-12-16--20-22 dont tell me about coupling if that were the only issue then all sus would work the same In mY opinion the airwave is a great float shock it finally has rising rate Yea lets see this is 2006 .The reason the resale has fallen is because no one offers any thing tangeble performance wise other than a clutch kit or some stupid BLING. I tried to offer What I know works But as I stated earlier some are just to dissapointed or like you just to happy with your sled to reconize there are improvements available. Ive owned this performance company for 25 years and have found good parts and bad parts be thankful there people willing to at least try different things to find out what works and doesnt. I too put down $19.200$ for my Blade so unless you did the same dont blame me for the fall in prices How about poor parts support or poor tech support In 1985 gordon rudolph and I offered the first belt drive to replace the chain case In 1989 gordy and I built 25 Indys with wildcat motors and 25 Yamaha exciters with Wild cat motors ALL hand built!! I worked with Kevin Hanson to bulld the first big welded 3 cylinder wild cat 1050's was on the startling line of countless cross country races, been up snow king in Jackson. been on the staring line in the early days of formula 3 and the best you can come up with is a way to keep Ice out of the coupling blocks, Hell, Brad Finkbiner figured that out on the first blades five years ago. I seen alot of fast sleds as I'm at the asphault alot and I know your 600 goes 110 in a mile (IN your World) how about 1000 ft???? and your right it was presumptious of me to assume you could handle my sled , I will be holding a radar run in Feb in front of Chamberlins on Big manistique lake mabe you could show up???? bring lots of NOS or your turbo My 14 year old son with his stock F-6 runs 111 Dont bother responding. NOW ITS DONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have an 02 700 Striker with the Ace. It comes with a dash mounted control w/digital readout, and a handlebar mounted control.

I ordered a a new skid from fast.... the new airwave for my RX1. Well see how it works out. Anybody else have it yet? I know they are behind in getting them out.

I put mine in pretty quick. East to install. I did not get the on board compressor because once the pressure is set you really dont need to mess with it according to fast. I put aprox 40 miles on it friday and it rides better than my kids 06 550x rev. Biggest bumps were no more than 1' max.

I am interested in installing an Airwave in my sled. What do you think of yours so far..

Please let me know. Have you had an m-10 in the past to see how it differs?

Thanks,

Ron,
I ran a m-12 in my rev. Before that I had several m-10's. The m-12 had a stiffer ride than the m-10's, but they were in older doo's not the rev. The airwave rides smoother than the sc-4 x package. Only can say its better in the 1' high bumps. No bumps taller due to lack of snow.

I just rode my 2004 Rx1 for the first time this season since I had the m10 airwave put into the sled.
The guy who I had put it in took his time and made sure everything was right. I also wanted to let you all know that Team fast was GREAT in support.
I put 90 miles yesterday in up-state NY. Rome NY to Westernville,Trenton and back. I would say the trails were fair to poor with some two foot moguls here and there.
The Airwave performed much better than I ever dreamed it would. The ride is the best Ive ever ridden. The small stuff, 1 foot moguls are gone.. as for the big stuff, the skid handled it better than anything I've ever ridden before. I also own a FX phaser and I have to tell you, there's no comparison in ride performance. The airwave is much better. I'm very happy with this investment.
With adding air or subtracting air, one can adjust to the trail conditions while riding. The bumps simply melt away. It's the most amazing "thing" I've ever expirenced.

What air pressure are you running and how much sag do you have?

What air pressure are you running and how much sag do you have?

I'm running at 70 psi...(my weight is 165lbs dry) it seems to sag about 4 to 6 inches. I noticed that if I run on the soft side, say about 55 psi.. it sags to a point were the secondary shock bottems out. It's not a progressive shock.
Once i had the psi set, I left it alone. I didn't get in the habbit of changing psi to often only to see what it would do and how it changed the ride.
The guy who put the skid in was thinking that maybe we could revalve the secondary shock ( the assisting shock to the air shock) and make it more progressive. Another words, make the shock give more resitance as you compress it. Right now, it goes the other way. But, I don't think we have to go there. It's working well without having to do this.
The only problem that I didn't mention was with the psi quage. After i got a few miles in, the guage stuck into one position. I don't know if moister froze the guage but if failed in the last setting of 70 psi and hasn't moved.
How's your skid been working out and have you had any problems with yours?

Has the airwave affected your top speed or acceleration? I did not know if it would reduce a machine's performance?

Please let me know.

I have an Airwave in my IQ 600HO, put over 200 miles on sofar comparing alongside a Dragon, Rev, and brand new F8. None of those sleds are as smooth as the Airwave on ungroomed sections. Can't wait to find some BIG stuff. Acceleration is very good, it won't transfer as much as a stock skid but it does transfer more than a standard M10. Top speed can be gained by releasing enough air to lower ride height and thereby reducing track approach angle. Ive seen as much as 3-5 MPH.

After 163 miles on the AirWave, I love it!

Now I just need more snow so I can get off the lakes frantics.gif

I'm new to this site but had to post my findings on this suspension. I have a 700 and an 800 blade. I put the airwave in the 700 and have been COMPLETELY satisfied with it. My first ride on it was with my girlfriend on the back and was expecting to have a difficult time with it. To my supprise we were in 1' washbord and the sled moved up and down 2" tops! The suspension ate everything! There was no track slap on the bumps. I found myself laughing because I could not believe how amazing this was! Later we got into hills with 2' holes/bumps and still the sled would move up and down but there was no reason to lift off the seat. Then we hit a railroad grade with 1 1/2-2' washboard. 65mph with both of us setting on the seat! It was like the trail had just been groomed!!! I have never experienced this type of control in bumps before. After that ride she said she wanted a sled "just like yours!!" We bought the 800 last week and took them to a drag race in Traverse last weekend. First pass I dropped the air out until the rear dropped to the ground, then inflated it enough to hold me up. I ran a 7.080 with a .542 RT. At half track the suspension collapsed completely. Next run was 7.181 with a .472 RT and the suspension was inflated more and stayed up the whole way. This thing transferes perfectly. I have 96 studs and had NO problem spinning on the frozen dirt. I ran the 800 and pulled a 7.365 with a .572 RT. After the race we rode a railroad grade (not groomed) with 3'+ bumps. The sled handled best at 70+ mph!!! I rode the 800 (with ohlins and the jack) it takes the bumps really good but it is just not as smooth as the airwave. I weigh 162 and I run it at 60-63 psi. In the big stuff I went to 65 psi. I had to call David @ Fast to pass on my appreciation for such a improvement in snowmobiling. I cant wait to put one on the 800!

Ps. anyone near Traverse with one?

YES! the airwave is much better. If you can do it, get the airwave. I placed an airwave into my RX1 and have not looked back. Best investment I've ever done to a sled.
