Towards the end of last season I decided to try a hook on the left side of my handlebars. I figured that having one on the throttle side was pretty much a waste since your had is always occupied with working the gas. SO when I drilled out the grip........HMMMM, I found that the factory grip warmer wires running thru the inside of the bar and realized that it was going to be either the hook OR a warm left hand for the rest of the season. I decided on the hook with the intention of putting on a new aftermarket heated grip this season. Well here I am and now I'm trying to figure what the best route to go. I got a new set of grip already and a set of the OEM looking stick on heat elements, they only have 2 wires? The bars have 3 from the old unit. If I want to have use of the high/low feature on the sled now the new set has to have 3 wires RIGHT? I see an orange, orange w/blue stripe, and a yellow w/black stripe wires inside the bar now. I figure that the plain orange is the ground and one is the high and the other is the low, is that right? What are my options here? Should I get a set of those "HOT GRIPS" that are pre-wired and have the heat elements built in? What else is out there to use? Anyone with info PLEASE drop me a line, I would really appreciate it.
On a side note, MAN ALIVE is Ski-Doo VERY PROUD of their OEM parts OR WHAT!!!! I went in to my local shop and wanted to get a couple "little" parts for this season. A few of the little star washer looking fasteners that hold the upper & lower windshields together....$1.45 EACH!!!!!! Are you KIDDING ME?? Ace hardware wants something like .11 cents for theirs!! Then the rubber cover that screws on over the grip temp toggle switch........$10.50!!!!! YOUR NOT SERIOUS RIGHT??? That's what I said to the guy behind the parts counter. Is this normal for all OEM stuff?? WOW I was floored. Walked out with jaw dragging on the ground. Sorry, I feel better now. Thanks for listening.
