Exactly! I was planning to leave Shawinigan for Roberval as the first day of our trip. Now we're considering other routes and would not be stopping in Roberval, possibly other towns nearby. Maybe not even the Sageunay region.

Like I posted on an eariler thread...anyone doing a saddle bag trip coming from the south to southwest part of Quebec heading north through la tuque on 83 to the Lac St Jean region will have one choice through Relais 22....Same going back from Lac St Jean. Many guys already stop at Relais 22 for the night....many also head through Lac Edouard on 355 and camp out there. With the trail terminated at Lac Edouard...Relais 22 becomes the only game in town in that area....they will be force to either build on more rooms this season or send snowmobliers away. Some guys are not going to be very happy riding an extra 80-90 miles in the dark to find a room. :banghead: What are others thoughts on this?...I'm not real fussy on the groming as long as trail 355 can remain open. We use both 83 and 355 every year.

Its hard to believe that such a heavily used trail could just close down.. It is definately a time saver from Shawinigan to the Lac ST Jean area..

Good Luck at the meeting. It is my believe that the towns and local businesses (gas stations, motels, restaurants, taverns, convience stores, etc) need to contribute more toward the club's expenses. Trail passes don't cover all the costs. A trail pass is a very small percentage of what a snowmobiler spends over the whole season. It is time for others that profit from the sport to help cover some of the costs.

i too was planning our group could be as 8 people. what a hassle without the trail open.

Due to the limited routes heading in that direction, those of us that enjoy making overnight saddle bag trips will be forced to significantly modify our routes and or avoid the region all together. Quebec is known for its plethora of trails that allow access to a wide array of varying terrain and locales. The closure of the trail will undoubetly had far reaching negative economic impacts on towns and small business owners whose annual revenues are significantly depedant upon snowmobilers, and eliminating this trail is akin to cutting off the life blood to these good folks.
