Full Version: Handgaurds on Gen II?

Anyone have a picture of handgaurds on a Gen II? I was planning on putting on a 2" riser, but suspect my little 11" winshield isn't going to help shed any wind. Was planning on putting on a set of sporttech handgaurds but unsure of how they'll look? They got some cool looking "carbon fibre" ones that should look cool on my XCR.... :beerchug:

does this help?

These are Acerbis guards, with what used to be called Black Diamond mounts. Polaris sells the mounts now. I'm trying to find a front pic. The riser is a ROX 3.5 pivoting mount.

Where you able to use the stock handlebar pad?

That cover is off a Pro-X. Can't remember the year. The stock hard rubber one would have fit, but not well because of the angle forward. It also would be short. Heres a pick of a Edge with a 1 inch block under a 2 inch ROX pivoting riser. The stock rubber cover fit on this ok, and a corrugated black drain pipe covers the gap very well. This would also work on a Gen 2

Did they work well, or were they more for looks?

I don't have a picture, but my buddy has a set of sport tech's on his Gen II and loves them for thier functionality.

I had the mid w'shield with the wind flares from Polaris with a 2" riser that worked good. Last year put on a very low black shield, 3" pivoting riser, and black sporttech hand guards, thought it would look good. Never was so cold in my life. Couldn't change back because the wife was laughing at me, stupid pride. Definetly going back to a decent windshield this year. If you want the low shield and hand guards, pm me. There off a gen II and cheap.

any of you guys got a peice of that black coragated pipe i could have? i dont want to go buy a while pipe.

I never had a problem getting cold, but i always rode off trail or really hard on the trails so I was always hot. The handguards did work though, i could tell if i had my gloves off. There really wasnt any wind against them.

I would ditch the stock polaris cover, imo, it looks stupid. On this sled I bought a bar pad cover from dennis kirk for 15$. Now, on my XC I have a FLY bar setup with the fly pad. This year on my XC I will also be extending all the electrical cables so the plugs are underneath the hood. Should make it look really clean, instead of a hairball of electrical crap.
