one ton fun
Well i figured i would start a vermont deer hunting thread seeing how rifle season is just around the corner. Im quite excited! I sat in my stand this weekend at 2 different times. The first time i saw a doe and her youngin. Then sunday night a saw a big ass doe that was solo. No buck but hopefully by the time rifle starts rut will be going on and maybe one of those doe will bring in a buck. If you are successful make sure you post pics of you trophy in here we wanna see it!!!

Damm, I still have too much stuff to get done before heading up to camp on the 10th.
Just picked up the Harley. Had gear driven cams installed. Might put the long-johns on to see how it runs.
Still have to get the boat covered for the winter. Put the bike away. Get the sled out and put the new SLP SLTs on and start it up, etc. :banghead:

Can't wait to get out in the woods and clear my head. Now if we can get a little tracking snow.

I've seen a ton of doe's and few bucks. The deer are definitly on the move. I have a feeling that this year will be so much better than last year.
one ton fun
We can only hope bc last year sucked!

I'm always ready. Got surgery on the 8th to repair nerve damage suffered when I broke my orbital bone (long fuckin' story) so hopefully that doesn't get in the way. Confidence level is definitley high this year due to the lame winter and new hunting regulations. Good luck and DEFINITELY POST PICTURES AND STORIES!

New boots came in 5min. ago...woo hoo!! Boat is put away, new shed is all built, woods all piled, leaves are all cleaned up,bike is "almost" put away, truck is all serviced, snow tires on...etc.etc.etc....all I gotta do now is sight in the rifle, and pray this is the year to end my ,ahem..."unsuccessful" streak dunno.gif ...I've been lucky though...everyone else in my family that hunts (Father ,2 brothers, and a nephew ),have all been fairly successful the past few seasons (with the exception of last year) and they are willing to share.....its either that or buy more freezers!! I'm always more than willing to help out with their "storage needs"...lol

Good luck to everyone!! :div20:

That's a nice lookin' a 5 pointer!Def. big for 5.My season starts the 15th but,the weather is warm.Shooting and cutting them up the same day sucks but, that might happen if we get the weather that is predicted.
ct_skidoo2
Snojockey, weather looks to be cooling off Friday/Saturday. That should get some action going. Not looking forward to being out in the 60 degree weather Wednesday but we'll see how things go.

Depite mild the temps on opening day here in CT, I ended up shooting a 3 pointer.Dressed-out 125lb,just a nice eating buck! Its' funny because I was a bit skeptical about how hot the rut was,but actually I think there is some does coming into estrous. There was three 3 young bucks hangin with one doe and I chose the biggest of three. The other two bucks had your basic basket rack 5 or 6 pointer but, they were small deer.Because of the temps we had to quarter uo the deer........We need cold weather and some SNOW!...God damn global warm :banghead: ing

Well I've been in the woods since Saturday morning and still haven't got a shot off. Boy am I sore, deer camp is a killer..... I came outa the woods Tuesday and a buck could of walked right by me, I would of let him go I was so beat.

Our group got 2 bucks, a 3 and 6 pointer, so theres plenty of meat.

My neighbor got a 7 pointer and a friend in Morrisville got a 6.

Like I said earlier the deer are there and on the move. Just gotta be at the right place at the right time.

So much better than last year.

I don't know about up north, but these winters are letting the ticks in. I've only been able to hunt 2 days so far, and I've seen 6 deer, and 7 ticks. It took me 25 years to even see one tick....
