I have posted this in another thread on this forum.

Those of us that are involved with the day to day operations of the snowmobile clubs need to provide ways that YOU can participate and help with the trails and club finances.

We (club officers & local volunteers) need to figure out ways for those that can’t physically get to a work party can help. :div20: Yes, I know everyone says send money but, many don't have much to spare.

One way anyone could help our club here in Pittsburg is to donate food and items to the "Warming Hut". These things are like found money for the club. :div20: Items such as hand warmers, home made items like cookies, cup cakes and whoopie pies. Food supplies like hamburger, beans, condiments, paper goods, individual coffee bags, plastic utensils etc., etc., all are a great help to the club.

If your club needs fuel, oil, oil filters, light bulbs, a chainsaw, polesaw, etc. for your club; these are all items that the club would not have to buy if they were donated by members. :div20:

Use your imagination to help your club.

Like I keep telling all the people on the work parties I do. If I can drive 2.5 hours to ride I can drive 2.5 hours one way to make sure their are trails too ride..

Then again now I am on board of directors for the Twin club...

I agree with your post, I spend a lot of time away riding so I give up some days in the fall to help out. Hopefully all the hard work for all our clubs will pay off with a great season.

I have always thought that if we could bring in some money from people that don't snowmobile in some form of raffle that members sell where they live this could generate some "outside" money. i am as guilty as the next as I own a place in Pittsburg but since I spend so much time there in the winter I find it hard to get up any other time in the year. I was up last week fot 2 days one night and hadn't seen the plac esince memorial day.

Everyone needs a set of moose antlers...

raffle tickets are available, and they make great stocking stuffers :smilielol: :smilielol:

I agree, everyone does need some moose antlers-especially me. Hopefully this winter we can hook up so I will know where your stash is so I can come "borrow" a nice set to throw up on the wall in our cabin.

Last fall, a landowner who runs a nursery and grows blueberries and strawberries on his land asks that my club fence off his strawberry patch to protect it from sledders varying off the trail. Since there's a few sledders that ride on the bare minimum, it was understandable. The 2 pics show what I did today in addition to staking a long field. This area is a part of my section, so its my responsibility and I'm glad to do what ever it takes to keep a continuous trail in town. :div20:

That is a good job and a lot of work! As long as snowmobilers like you keep in touch with the landowners and adress their needs, trails will continue to remain open. :div20: Unless the landowner's property is not respected by people that use their lands. :banghead:

What if we were to make it a so called Holiday.
National trail day. Set a date and time were every club works on trails that day.
This way, there is enough time for everyone to plan on it.
Advertise all year about it, hype it up big time.
I think people would show up out of curiosity.
Then once they do, they will be hooked on it and show up more often.
Just a thought.

Good idea but you'd need to call it something else, there is such an annual event with the same name usually in early June.

"NATIONAL TRAILS DAY BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Now in its 15th year, National Trails Day (NTD) has grown to inspire nearly a million trail enthusiasts to flock to their favorite trails to discover, learn about and celebrate trails while participating in educational exhibits, trail dedications, gear demonstrations, instructional workshops and trail work projects.
NTD Provides a perfect opportunity to thank volunteers, land managing agencies, and outdoor minded businesses for their support in developing and maintaining trails.
Events take place in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico, Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands and Canada.
In 2006, a record 1,210 events registered with American Hiking Society for national sanctioning.
The official date of National Trails Day is always the first Saturday in June; however, NTD events can also take place at other times during the year. American Hiking will always support NTD hosts every step of the way regardless of when your NTD event takes place. "
