If you don't conform, and if you speak your mind that is the least bit offensive to MR POLSTEIN it appears that the Sledmaine.com admin will ban you from their site.

If that is the way they want it then fine. I am calling on all members who still post at SLEDMAINE to pull OUT! Dump your membership. SLEDMAINE is more concerned about $$$$$$$ than its longtime members. So screw them and their bullshit! :banghead:

homer i understand where you are coming from and realize what has taken place. i will still be a part of that site for a couple reasons...

1 i have made many friends over there.

2 it is nice to have a voice and hear other voices from the state where i ride.

another reason i will not leave there is i don't fully agree with your point of view, while fully understanding your point i don't believe polstien is trying to do harm to our sport and will continue to hear him out.



another question i have is why are people so hell bent against the site? i have seen a few say it is due to all the bashing and banter so to speak......there in my question lies. this site is far worse when it comes to bashing and banter then sledmaine could ever think of being. so tell me why sledmaine is so bad.

Thanks DMan. True we may not agree about the Polstein issue itself, that was NOT the issue. The real issue is why did ADMIN of Sledmaine chose to CENSOR ME and ban ME for speaking my mind about the issue. I in NO WAY made any threats, called anyone derogitory names, or anything. I had questions I wanted answered and apparently ADMIN didnt want me around anymore to shake these things out. So instead of letting me at Polstein to put some questions to the man, they cut me off. How conveinient that MR POLESTEIN wasnt interested in SLEDMAINE until members reading the SLEEPING WITH THE ENEMY thread started cancelling their reservations at his lodge. Do me a favor DMan, see if there are any ads on the Sledmaine site for Matts lodging business, or any other ads for his businesses on that site.

I think on of the prievious postes said it right, the term "DIPSHIT" does come to mind. I have had no real issues with those guys, and have been real friendly with them in the past, so it kind of baffles me that they took such a heavy handed attitude with me. Again $$$$$ talks and they got scared that their site has drawn his attention. Now he's bullied his way onto their site and the "trouble makers" are being booted. I wont be suprised to see Venturer booted soon as well. What makes me really pissed is I dont even get a chance to defend anything I said. PARTISAN BULLSHIT! I could be considered a post whore, but as most there know I didnt just post to see my #s go up. However I was not a favorite either. I found that out a few other times seeing my hands getting slapped for doing the same things that others used to do, but since I wasn't part of the CLIC' I got cut down. I can guarantee that there are about 5 posters over there now that are saying nothing more or less than what I said and they are not getting booted because they are one of the "GOLDEN CHILDREN" of Sledmaine.

The nail has been hit on the head. Nothing wrong with an open discussion about the issues vs people shutting other people off cause they want to or more importantly they get asked to by someone with a bigger bank account.

Did things get out of control, probably. Was it all your fault, no. These days any issue including Roxane is a heated topic. I don't think Matt was how you got booted, I think he got on to make sure his side of the story was heard. Good for him for standing up for himeself. I think you will have to look deeper than Matt to find why you got booted and other interested parties that probably complained and they probably never posted either.

Again I whole heartedly believe that Sledmaine Admin booted me because they are afraid of the attention the whole Polstein issue is getting and because several Sledmaine members started cancelling their reservations at Polsteins establishements and he is losing $$$ now. He is on the offensive and has made some sort of a threat to the Sledmaine admin, ie a threat of a law suit. So to appease their new master Sledmaine Admin has pulled the plug on everything Quimby/Polstein related. So if you read some of the stories about Polstein you wlll see this is his MO. He has a way of eliminating the negative around him. I am proof of that.

Well Homer i have been over there since only 99 or so And i tell ya u have opened some eyes and minds to us snowmobilers in southern Maine :wut60: and even people in maine u dont seem to sugar coat anything which i like but the tree huggers and people who oppose us dont like. And the admins dont like either because if they are threatened with law suits etc it may not be right but they dont want to deal with all that. I think u will see less posters there if Mr Polstien starts posting in other threads and maybe even cause of his current post JMO but i bet its close. Homer, Matt P doesn't have the money to control Sledmaine, There are plenty of special interest groups that do however.

Your pretty pictures of RQ never got pulled because admin never even saw it. This topic has heated up enough to get others to look at it that either never really paid attention or never new sledmaine existed. It has also created so much interest that admin is checking the site more than once per week or month.

You need to look beyond Matt P. You may or may not agree with him but I highly doubt he had the ability to get you booted from Sledmaine.

He may not have called the admin and said, "HEY BOOT THAT GUY" but I think admin is afraid to ruffle this guys feathers and didnt want to be named in a defamation/slander law suit. Mr.Polstein has friends in high places in Augusta. There may not have been any overt coersion, but I think there was some implied coersion.

Mr Polstein may have left the impression that he may blame SLEDMAINE.COM for all the members who cancelled their reservations at his establishments after reading the posts on the Sledmaine site. Follow the $$$.

Skidooxteam hit the nail on the head in my opinion.
I have been a member there (sledmaine)for a few years and have seen that site turn to shit. I posted in the beginning but now rarely / never post. I think I have a total of about 7 posts in the last 2 years. I use it for trail info and that is basically it.
There are a few people on there that are friends, and they know EVERYTHING. God forbid you disagree with them because they gang up on people making the site a miserable experience for newbies and people without a lot of knowledge. For some strange reason the site admin just lets it go. Maybe it is thier post count, who knows? Maybe the admin is just a friggin coward, Who knows?
Alot of these guys simply can't stfu and need to hear thier own voice no matter if it is right or wrong. For me that gets old after a while and thats why i choose not to participate.

To answer your question about bashing and banter.
It is not allowed in certain areas on here and is not tolerated in those areas. I feel the mods here do an awsome job of keeping it under control in those areas. there are other areas that they let anything go and everyone has a chance to speak thier mind. From what i see there is no similarity to sledmaine whatsoever

so what your saying is because i am friends with a bunch of people on the board and we give each other shit, and my post count is high the site is garbage? pretty sure one of the big reasons for going on a chat site that involves a sport in which we are all a part of is comrodery (sp) and to make friends among other things. my experience on sledmaine has been a positive and will continue to hold stock that i am a contributing member there.

As I said in the earlier post I have only posted there a few times over the past few years because I don't really care for the site. Usually only looking for trail info and it usually turns into a pathetic exchange about where area 51 is and why you should not tell people about it and then renaming it to area 52 or 53. It gets old quick.
Also you would not recognise my name because it is different on sled maine.
After what i have written here i am not too sure i want to reveal what i post under at sled maine.

Most of us that post here, there and other places keep the same name at each place. People that want to frequent website forums shouldn't have such thin skin, I guess.

Sledmaine has it's group that knows each other and banters back and forth but overall I've found them to be pretty helpful when you need some info. I'd agree with those on there that say don't post info on where to ride on the net we've seen what happens but I also agree Snowdad got bashed way more than he should have for stuff we all have done but not got caught./hurt but that same thing happened here on this site.

So was I for almost seven years now. But I apparently made the fatal mistake of crossing MATT POLSTEIN and it earned me a boot in the ass out the door. I had been involved in many a nasty exchange in there, not really proud of that, I can get carried away at times, but I was very civil and hadn't even begun to get my dander up. That is why I found it so funny that they booted me. I have been much nastier and borderline abusive, again not proud of myself, but I didnt even get an email from admin saying back off, settle down, etc. Which they have done in the past with me. I have no other recourse but to believe that Admin was scared of something and that is why they reacted the way they did. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

HFS I am not too sure why i am explaining this but here it goes.
To be honest I am relatively new to the whole computer talk room/ forum thing. I have owned a computer for 10 years but never used it for talking in chat rooms.
I rode jackman for a few years and rented for the season there. The place I rented from would always update me with trail info and I never had to go on line to get anything. We, "the entire group I ride with" ended up relocating to a different area and purchasing a house on a trail. We no longer have access to the same kind of info we had in jackman. This sent me on a search for info on line. The first place I joined was sledmaine. I used it a lot in the beginning "first 2 years" and then got away from it. At this point being uninterested in sledmaine, I searched for more and found arctic chat, totally yamaha, doo talk, the polaris files, hcs and a million others. I did not join all at once and therefore I ended up with different names at different sites. Please believe me, I would prefer to have one name and password every place I go. Unfortunately that is not going to happen. My name here "Bluegoo" is not even a name I wanted. I got rejected so many times during the registration process that I simply gave up and took this name.

I do have a question for you though.
What constitutes thin skin? Something that upsets me that does not upset you. Does that make my skin thin?
There are ways I could post and things I could do to be aggressive or arguementative. If i do those kind of things and they upset people does that mean those people are thin skinned or am I being a jerk? When someone is perfect and knows everything it is hard them to see that they come off as demeaning or condacending to others and they tend to upset people. When I deal with a person like that and I get upset does that still mean I have thin skin? The only thing I am trying to say here is if more people made an effort to treat others the way they would like to be treated I wouldn't be writing this. A little courtesy won't kill you. Obviously I am not going to change the world with this post.

Very rarely does he engage in the petty bullshit and he has more intelligence and insight than most people that post on there. With that said, sorry if that last sentence offends anyone from sledmaine but in HFS words don't have such a thin skin.
