Trying to see if I should tackle this project myself, hopfully someone here has done this before. (sorry if it's been asked before- having trouble with using the search)
I have a 2002 700XCSP that I nailed a railroad track with late last year. I broke what looks like on the parts schematic as one of the Rear Trailing Arm Mounts. The bolt at the back of the trailing arm goes through the arm and into what looks like a tube, then bolts on the back side of that. My buddy said it is designed to snap when it get's hammered hard. Anyway, I am wondering what it takes to replace this mount as far as labor goes. I am real handy, mostly with motors and such, but this looks like I need to deal with rivits and such. What needs to come off for me to replace the mount? How does it attach? I am real handy, I'd never take my sled to be worked on if it was a motor issue, or most anything else, but this may be a tough for me to tackle. I hate rivit guns.
Thanks in advance!

I've done a few and it's def. a pain but can be done, you'll have to un bolt anything nearby and remove the footrest and whatever else is above it and at least loosen the belly pan to get at it.
Lots of rivets, some in places you can't get at with a drill, need to grind or chisel them.
If you get hung up give a shout,I ain't far away from you.

I'd get a heavy duty rivet gun, or air riveter to do it, cause those hardened rivets are a motherfucker to pull with a regular hand riveter. I've done a few of these, and toward the end of the first one i had all i could do to pull the last few rivets. I think my forearms grew quite a bit after that. I went and bought a heavy duty riveter then, and they pull like butter now.

Try to use an air riveter ,doing them by hand they seem to loosen up after a while.

The part is about $100 for me to buy, the dealer says it would cost about $300 for them to do it including the part. I'd have to buy a heavy duty or air rivet gun... all the rivets, and it still might not be like new again... Needless to say I have an appointment with the Polaris dealer.
Thanks guys for the info.

The rivets come with it. This is a complete kit with full instructions. It even has the new reflector in there to go in the belly pan. I wouldn't take it to the dealer. I did my first one on a Friday night, started at about 5/6pm and was still able to go for a ride that night. That was the first one i ever did. It's not hard to do, just time consuming. I'm sure you could borrow/rent a heavy duty riveter if you didn't want to buy one. I bought one because i knew i would use it again, and in fact i used it just this past weekend. I actually use it more than i thought i would.

1FASTXC, did you remove the skid? Not like it's hard to do that, but wondering if I need to. And it comes with all the rivets? Even the ones for the footwell (which I am guessing needs to come off as well?)

No need to remove the rear skid. It does come with all rivets for the mount, but i can't remember if it comes with all rivets for the footwell too. I think it does but i'm not positive. it was last fall when i changed my last one, and i had a good season last year with no major mishaps.
