Looking to put a 12V outlet on the Switchback, but figured i should ask around to see where others have put theres. dunno.gif I was going to get the Polaris plug-in, but can think of better ways to waste $50. my last 12V worked great and costs me $6. before i go exploring in the engine compartment, does anyone have suggestions? Thanks a lot! :div20:

The Polaris plug converts the 12VAC to 12VDC because of a built in rectifier. Polaris also offers a simple 12V plug for electric start models w/battery for a lot less money. However, if you hook it up to a non-battery equiiped sled you'll have raw 12VAC at the plug.

where would the plug connect...if i were to have one that converts the current?

I did the same on my indy but rather than buying the spendy polaris plug with the recifier built in I bought the components (recifier, fuse and holder, box, grommets, trailer plug harness, basic 12v outlet) and wired up the entire unit for about $20. I tapped into the headlight circuit. I have the service manual which gave me an electrical diagram. If I remember correctly, I used the low beam circuit because it remains on even when you switch to high beams (on the edge chassis anyway, not sure about IQ)

i appreciate the responses! i had mine wired in in my SKS somewhere near the clutch cover, but would like to have it in the hood to avoid having to unplug just to open her up! i will do some looking for the parts mentioned to make sure i have it done right this time.
