Looking for a description on how the ESP actually works and can't find it. Is it full auto or does it require rider input of some sort?

ESP requires rider input. There are 2 switches located on the left hand side of the handle bars. You press the up switch to shift up and the down switch to shift down.

Some of the models have a full auto option. Honda uses a torque converter set up with a car like auto transmission. The transmission acts just like a car in the way it up shifts and down shifts. The advantage of this is there is no belt or clutches to get wet and slip like other models. The models with full auto have a selector switch to lock this out and go to the ESP shift. This gives the rider the option of manually selecting the gear they prefer. I have only used this option while towing heavy loads, to keep the bike in first gear.

Hope this helps.

You looking for a new quad Muttley?

I have ESP on my Foreman-- it was actually one of the reasons I went w/ it. Basically push button shift. Have had no probs w/ it.

Electronic shift is WAY better than belts. We have an 04 rancher with 3000 miles and my cousin has 6300 on their 2000 rancher. Both still shift and run like new. Much better than foot shift! :div20:

I love the push button on our 450 Foreman ES.......it's so easy to use and getting the power to the ground quicker then a foot shift...... :cn:
