I recently bought a set of these pipes for my 800 efi (second hand but brand new) and i was suprised to see that the clutch kit it came with had 82 gram weights. these are the exact same weights that are in my sled right now for my D&D stock pipe clutch kit. i thought they should be lighter for more rpm. i think i got the wrong weights. just looking for some clarification so i can possibly get the correct stuff from the snowmobile show next weekend. :beerchug: whats the best set-up? i really dont like the 82 gram weights because of the hard engagement.want something smoother. thanks lump

I'm thinking you had the wrong weights with the first kit. I have their twins on my 800 and the weights are about the same as yours.

Engagement has more to do with the primary spring then the weights unless you have the engagement part of your weights ground down.

82 grams is way too much for the twin pipe setup! I'll do some digging and let you know.

That's what I was thinking! Needs to run 78-8000rpm. Riding bud has an '02 800 carb with D&D twins, V-Force, and SLP air box lid and he's running around 70-72g. You may have the Big Dog weights with an engagement notch that will cause a hard engagement.

Looks like I was mistaken. Looks like mine are about 74 grams.

74 grams here.....2001 ZR800 (carb) with D&D twins, power breather, clutch kit, V-force 3, torque arms, 25/38 gearing, 500 mains, and 192 pics. Runs 7500 to around 50 then climbs up to 7800 and still gets 14-16 mpg with the 500 mains.

With all the lack of snow I have been doing other things. But for some reason I have a good feeling about this year. So hopefully mother nature won't let me down this year. Plus a few of my buddies are looking into sleds so I figured what the heck......I'll be around much more this season.
