Ok, i finally have my garmin 60csx and want to get a ram mount. i'm just not sure if i should be getting the surface mount or handbar mount. I don't think i have room for a handlbar mount so i'm probably looking at a surface mount and doing a little drilling which i don't mind. For some reason though the GPS in the picture does not look secure. Please tell me it's not just sitting in there? Is this the correct mount for a sled?

I have the same GPS and mount combo. It IS NOT coming out! The bracket locks into the "button" for the belt clip on the back of the GPS.

I have a Garmin eMap and a Magellen eXplorist XL and I use the RAM cradle with the handle bar mounts and the is no way they can fall out.

Sweet! I was going to ask the same question! I just got the same GPS unit and I am planning to mount it exactly the same way. What a small world. :celebrating:

It will never come out accidentally, in fact its hard to get it out when you WANT to.

Thats a Ram mount on a 1" ball diamond base plate. They sell "kits" which include the mounting plates the arm and the holder but I bought my pieces individually because I wanted a short arm. A buddy has a different Ram setup that instead of the arm his has a very sturdy flexible stalk - very nice.

Don't worry ram make a pretty solid mount, it would take a quite a crash to knock you GPS out of the mount.

Does anybody have a picture of the back of the mount WITH the garmin 60csx mounted on the bracket.
I just got the mount, but there was no screw included to secure the gps unit into the mount ?
I am just looking to see what type of screw I need to secure it.

It's currently in your belt clip thingy that came with your GPS60. You need to remove it and screw it into the back of the GPS.

where did you order your mount from? Are RAM mounts sold in stores anywhere, or just online?
have most people mounted to the 'accessory' area of the sled, and not to the handlebars?
let it snow...!

i can attest to that. I totalled my sled into a berm last winter and my Magellan Gold did break free but it's ok. Hit at 30+mph so it was quite a spill. Also i rolled the sled before that and it stayed put. I'll be getting a new RAM mount for my new ride as my RAM craked in the crash

GPS city has an extensive supply of Ram mounts and accessories. They are online but it will be at your door in a matter of days.
