Hi Guys,
Gonna finally change my exhaust valves before this season.
I went to the dealer, he gave me a polaris part # for the exhaust valve, but when i go on polaris' website, it's a different number.
Sorry, i don't have the numbers with me, i'm at work.
Are they using titanium or stainless valves now? i know they switched a few times.
Thanks guys, getting ready for the winter :beerchug:

They're using Stainless Steel valves now. Titanium valves are no longer available new.
This is out of SnowTech:
In 2003, Polaris was using aluminum valves. In 2004, they upgraded to “hard coat anodized” valves, followed by stainless steel valves in 2005. All of these valves now supersede to the “Stainless Steel Valve Kit” (Polaris part #2202838). This kit contains the #5134492 stainless steel exhaust valves and valve springs (kit instructions provide information on what springs to use for what elevation).
It's possible that the part # has changed again though.

I can't remember how much they cost. Last year there were several posts on this subject. You might do a search. The stainless valves are definitely the heaviest of the three but you would need them all to check the difference. You might take one of yours to the dealer and compare weights with a new one. My 2 cents.

Aluminum cast w/grafal coating 67 grams
Titanium (no longer available) 93 grams
Stainless Steel w/G12-2 casting mark. 167 grams
The difference in weight is part of the reason the stainless steel valves come in a kit 2202838 with a choice of replacement exhaust valve springs.

Yes, the stainless steel valves require a different spring than the stock aluminum valves, even if you're riding at the same elevation. One set of VES springs for your elevation is included in the SS valve kit.

Anyone know the part # for the Aluminum Valves? Thanks, just want to check to see if i still have them or if the previous owner upgraded already.

IF your valves have the G12-2 casting mark, they are stainless steel.
