This is what we got...a 96' zr 580 battery efi(pos) :banghead: This is a friends sled so help me out please. Start it up, hook a volt meter to it and reads 11.. volts, than the volts start to drop down to 8.. volts, than dies. :cn: Try to restart it and it does nothing. Let it sit for a short while, than starts and does it all over again. I think the ecu needs 9 volts to stay running, but it sounds like something is drawing it down :cn: Anything anyone else has run in to....

check wiring for bad connections also try a new voltage regulator

Have you tried a new battery? Th eEFI's were very sensitive to battery condition and even if the battery is holding a charge it may not be good enough to keep the computer happy. They will not run right if they don't like the battery. I'd think the battery should be reading 12 - 13V. dunno.gif Tyr a new battery and see if that makes a difference.

I would also try the battery as mentioned above. My 95 580 efi always likes a new battery after a couple years.
Arctic Cat Kicks ass
What they said, new battery

I had a similar problem with a zr 580 last year. Turned out to be a bad connection (corroded) that was drawing battery down just enough after a little while to cause the same symptoms you describe.
