How long does it take to drive to Montreal from Windsor? A good Gaspe trip would start at Riviere du Loup (Hotel Universal) {2hrs east of Montreal}.

It took us 11 hrs from Lindsay to Riviere-du-Loup. That included a couple of rest/gas stops and lunch. If you mean the town of Gaspe' then I can't help you. dunno.gif

Took us 13 1/2+ hrs from North of Whitby to Rimousky with an 8' 4 spot and icey conditions to past Kingston but just under 12 to get home. Snow was thin around R d'L so we chose to start from Rimousky. FRom Windsor add 2 1/2 as a guess.

I agree. You can start from Riviere du Loup. Hotel Universal has lots of parking. Takes about 10 hours from Cambridge so add about 2 1/2 hours from Windsor to Cambridge. Or, you can take highway 40 from Montreal all the way to Ste. Foy and then take 73 south just over the river to "Bernieres" - check out http://www.hotelbernieres.qc.ca/aaattrai.html There is a large Hotel / Restaurant there with tons of parking and trail 5 right to the parking lot. This trail will take you right to Riviere du Loup and beyond. It will add a days ride but the trails are flat and fast! In Gaspe you absolutely have to take the 595 trail south through the Chic Choc mountains. If the trail at the Cache that goes to Murdochville is open TAKE IT! Then head back south down "piston Alley" - aka 597 to Chandler and then you can head around trail 5. Great place to stay is in Grand-Vallee called Hotel-Motel Grand-Vallee du Mont. I've been 3 times so far. You could also stop in STe. Foy and ride from there along the north shore to Baie Commeau. Thiswill take you 2 days. You'll do a ferry crossing at Tadussac across the Saguenay River and then go over the worlds highest / longest snowmobile bridge. You can then cross the Gulf of St. Lawrence on a huge ice breaker - call ahead for resevastions in the morning or you can make them when you get there. There's always room for sleds. It takes 2 1/2 hours -usually, and you will land in Matane. Stay at the Quality Inn right at the Ferry terminal. Then tour the Gaspe and ride trail 5 all the way back to Bernieres which is over the bridge from Ste. Foy. Take a cab to go get your trucks on the north side and it'll cost about $25.00.
Aword of caution though! Te thieves are thick. Our first trip my buddy's lost their enclosed trailer with sleds inside the first night they got there. They look for out of towners and it wouldnt surprise me if the Hotel staff isin on it. We got smart. My buddy got a set of licence plates from Quebec and we screwed them on when we got there. They wont steal from their own. Americans and Ontarians arefair game. We also had a "Boomerang" tracking device in the brand new Dodge Diesel. Through a magazine on the dash to cover the VIN number as well. If they can see the VIN all they need is a Techncian who works at a dealership to cut them a new key and he can get into the truck and if he has a scan tool program the key they drive away like they own it! 6 days maybe 7 to do this. Be aware that the Gulf anf the Ocean moderate the temperatures in the Gaspe. We got rained on real bad one trip in mid March. You can go in February. Its not cold like Timmins altho, man, can they get snow! If you want further information you can e-mail at john@gvw.ca or just PM me.

Agreed - there is no way you can get from Montreal to RDL in 2 hours!! It takes pretty well 2 hours to get from Montreal to Quebec City!

On thanksgiving weekend I drove from Burlington ON to Quebec City - old town. It is exactly 850 km door to door.

Mapquest says Windsor to RDL is 825 Miles or 1350 km. So anywhere from 12-14 hours sounds about right!
