I picked up my new GT this weekend and I've got to say the more I check it out the more impressed I am with the design and quality- something I sure could'nt say when I brought home my Firecat.

It sounds very cool although I have yet to run it in the grass to see how it really sounds cranked up.

The only thing I dont like is the huge windshield that came with it so I took my Dremel tool and cut about 3" off the top. I also ordered a low black one from Yamaha.

You're right, that windshield is ugly as hell, but probably warm on those sub-zero nights. There's nothing like a brand new machine, though.

The more I look at those, the more I wish they would put a 120hp engine in it. If they would, i could definitely see myself in the future trying one of those out.

Nice looking sled you got there Red ! Looks much better without the windshield too. I noticed a different snowflap on the rear and a few decals on the side as well, do them yourself ? Enjoy !!! :div20:

If you don't already know, you also need to order the other windshild mounts for the black chrome windshield, I found out the hard way.

Last nights project was installing A-arm protectors which I made out of running board trim I bought from J.R. Graham.

And yes I know I know about the low windshield mounts and unfortunately they are on backorder.

Nice! Can you get closeups of what you did for the A-arm protectors?

(I edited your post, you had the same thing repeating 4 times for some reason)
patriot_sledneck
Nice! Also like the a-arm protectors good idea! should just keep the winshield off and add some hand warmer (imo) it looks tough w/o it.

I got my trunk bag from Yamaha last night and it's a real nice bag- I'm just not too crazy about how it looks.

I also got the windshield mounts for my low windshield that were supposed to be on back-order.

Here is a close-up of the A-arm covers I made. I used a hack saw and cut the peices to the right length and snapped the trim on. The trim is pre-split down the side and you have to spread it apart to get it on. I shoved the peices over the end of a broom handle first to open them up. On the lower arms I used zip ties to help hold them on because the trim isn't big enough to wrap all the way around the tube.

Here is a link to the trim: J.R. Graham

Not a bash, but God that is one Ugly sled! Must have hit every branch on the way down the tree! Looked at one in Bemidji and I can honestly say that that is going to be the coldest riding sled ever produced and one of the worst trail riding sleds to boot! But have fun with it. Just park it in back and you wont get to much shit about its looks. Damn!

If that isn't a bash i don't know what is......these people are over here on the yamaha section sharing info and ideas with one another and you get on here and tell them how ugly and cold it's gonna be.......who really cares what you think of the phazer or any other yamaha for that matter! dunno.gif
RedRocker07
You want to talk about ugly- look at the new Arctic Cats- they look like dinosaurs!!

The Phazer is unconventional looking to say the least but I would say it also one of the most technologically advanced sleds on the trails this year.

As far as worst riding sleds- I highly doubt it with 16" of rear travel and 10" up front.

I probably will have to hide it when I park to keep the crowds of envious onlookers away!

p.s. jealousy is not a good thing

Its differant, but I like it. Companies are probably putting a lot of there designing into the younger age group. Which most of them are into sport quads, racing, etc
When I look at the phazer I think it looks good because it looks practical for me. I just want more horspower. If it had as much power as my XC, I would seriously think about getting one in a few years when I had the money. Put some nice shocks on there and you have one hell of a sled that can go off trail.

But, really, go look at the F-cats..... :smilielol:

I did! Looks like a snowmobile and not a cross between a sled and a four wheeler. Every one who walked into bemidji sports center said the exact same thing I am saying now. To Fugly! Put a hood on it so it does not look like it ran into a building and cover up that god forsaken hole in the tunnel. Could lose a child through that thing! I like the New F series so much I put money down on an F-6 SP!

Hey zl5600 if you don't like the look then don't buy it, but you shouldn't be here ragging about how it looks, you should stay in your forum writing to your buddies their. You know back in 2003 Ski-Doo introduced the REV and everybody like yourself ragged on the looks. You should take a look at where Doo is now, #1.

Sled looks great. He's just one of the usual bashers. But it's earned him a vacation from posting. Just ignore it.

:beerchug: The first Phazer I saw was blue and said it was a weird looking sled but like anything else it has to grow on you. Yours looks awesome in red and I kinda like the windshield on it. Enjoy! :burp:
