Full Version: Where were the Cat guys?

I went to the Toronto show yesterday, and was disappointed in a couple of respects....first there were only two halls (so much less to look at than last year), and VERY little Cat paraphenalia...there was only one dealer with anything, and no great deals to be had, even on old stock (I mean it's sitting on their shelves, it ain't sellin'...why not mark it down more when you have a captive bunch of customers??); last year there were several Cat dealers from all over, with lots of great deals on NOS stuff...this year if you were a Doo, Yammie, or Polaris guy, there were several big dealer set ups with many good deals (I couldn't believe the cool Doo stuff my Doo buddy picked up!) Anyway, I hope they address this next year, 'cause I am going to send a few emails to Show people and Cat people and see what they have to say!
Anybody else have any comments on the Show?

Yup, we stopped going to the T.O. show a couple years back, simply lame when you compare it to going over to Novi Mich.,that show is nearly as big,but i'd say easily 3 times the amount of things that are there,AND for sale, not just order taking going on! They usually have all the cool new stuff too, like was said, the T.O. show seems to just have old stuff at regular price anymore! (I'm WAY down near Windsor anyways,so let's see, drive 2 1/2 hrs. to see OLD stuff,or drive 3/4 hr. and see NEW stuff? m2c.gif )

Went to the TO show.... AGAIN.... :sleep3:
Is it just me or is it almost time to put this  old dog  of a show out of it's misery.
It sure would be nice when you PAY to attend a show.... the mfrs new line-ups are not represented by sales people trying to make a deal....
It's just the same 'ol same 'ol, year after year..... even the Royal Distributing area has become a no-deal zone....

Sounds like ZRSledHead, Pop's and I didn't miss anything by passing up the show in favour of attending the Penn State game.
Thanks for the usual great hospitality Clarky! Mrs. Booth may need to order up one of those F-1000s after all. :smilielol:

Same here, sounds like I didn't miss anything to head up North and split wood.

Cat's representation sucked because the show is not sponsored by any of the OEM's, only dealers. So with dealers such as Dorkland Marine from Oak Ridges supporting the show it is bound to suck the hind tit.

:beerchug: We got our entry money back from Royal and saved some money with Royal bucks we used. For us it wasn"t bad as we saved a trip to Barrie or Guelph to get the stuff we needed. The best deals on Doo clothing was at Uxbridge Small Motor"s booth even if it was old stock or whatever. It was good for a few hours out of the house on another wet day. :burp:

i didnt pay to get in so i dont care that much it was nothing compared to a novi show but the sleds were pretty good.....:div20:

Saved me a trip to Guelph as well. So Muskoka,is Mr Booth impressed with the F10? Last I heard an F7 was a possibility this year. :cn:

Mr. Booth when from very sceptical on route to very impressed apon meeting Clarky's beast. Jumping back and forth between the T660 (ZR chassis) and the F-1000 next to it proved very enlightening. It's rider forward seating position feels very natural and much more comfortable when compared to the lower, more knee bent ergo's of the ZR. If the F sleds are trouble free as they are powerful and comfy they'll be a huge hit. :div20:

I went to the show for the fourth year, and yes it was a bit smaller. The deals at the entrance were great from Uxbridge small engines (BRP t-shits, touques for 5 bucks). This time I brought my wife, 4 and 7 year old.

This kids loved it I gave them a mission to see who could could collect the most trial maps and stickers. Of course I now have tripples of all trail maps include those there from Quebec. This kids and my wife were most impressed with the sled jumping show outside, and I will post some good pictures tonight.

I agree the show has changed, and is starting to feel like the old computer show that used to be there before they stopped having the Canadian Computer Show. I notice alot of vendor's were not there. If you are looking for information on where to go and stay fro a sled trip it is a great event for you. :div20: If you are looking fro great deals.. dunno.gif well shop around as there were a few if you were into Doo but others not so much. The polaris dealer in the main floor had a good deal on gloves.

I agree one hall should be put aside for the manufactures only. Perhaps even give a sneek peek into next years stuff.

After all that walking kids and wife were asleep before we hit the 407 :sleep3: It was certainly better then staying home and doing fall preparations.

we stopped going too ..got ripped by an american guy on my visa a couple years ago .. called the vendor no results so i called the show promoters ( ont snowmobiler) explained what he was doing then hiding behind the border , they said they would look into it and let me know never heard a thing and my buddy saw the guy there last year , obviously they don't care as long as they get their money ... and i for one refuse to contribute to their lavish life style any more than i have too , they are hooked up so i have to contribute when i get my trail pass . they have long forgotten the little guy .... so far as i,m concerned, :unfb:

ok rant over ...we return you to regular bull*#@*
POLARIS98
yeah what was up with the show? i found it small dunno.gif no deals except for the polaris gloves :div20: 25 bucks! not that many sleds, but i did enjoy sitting on all the new ones. the pictures dont do the phazer any justice, it is WAY uglier in person dunno.gif i dont care what anyone says... the 07 arctic cats are sweet. :no_bashing: got a good deal on some DVDS, and got the trail pass... other than that it wasnt too great a show.. plus i found some dudes working there were grumpy... meh we'll see, i might not be going next year...
