Does anyone know if its safe to remove the heat sheild on the exhuast system of my 2000 MXZ 700? Do I have to have it on?

It needs to be on,period. it keeps heat off the hood and such.It also allows the pipe to heat and expand so it makes maximum power/horsepower. if you have ever been to grass drags or ice radar runs you will always see them cooling there motors but they try to keep the pipe as warm as possible buy wraping them between runs..............good luck
