I have a 2006 900 S/B with slp pipe, can, clutch, air box, coolent vents. I took her out the other day for a little grass drag in the fiel behing my house to see how she performed and I was very impressed but I was only getting 7400RPM and that seems very low to me. If anyone knows what kind of RPM'S I sjould be getting I would realy appreciate it

slp shows peak hp at 7800. how are your clutches set up?

I set the clutches up the way slp said to in the kit they sent me, could the resistance of the grass compared to that of the snow not allow the engine to turn as many RPM'S

Yes because you are loading the motor very hard in the grass with alot of drag. I would check it in the snow before I change it.

did you have the (warranty Voiding) reflash performed by a dealer to compenstae for the new pipe, can and clutching?

if not, that could cause some unwanted problems.

The drag of the surface should not affect peak RPM's, that is what the clutching is there for! CVT systems are designed to keep the engine in the most powerful rpm range. no matter what you are running on.

if the reflash was not done, and heavier weights were added to your clutching, this would very easily explain the rpm's not reaching it's intended peak. The reflash takes the fuel and ignotin curves into an zone that makes polaris not want to honor the warranty

So, once this reflash is performed say goodbye to your engine warranty!!
for the slight enhancements by use of the SLP exhaust combo, It seems like a risky move. you could easily gain just as much performance as the SLP kit by just doing some port matching and intake mods while keeping the stock exhaust and ECM mapping. and still have a warranty.

The only true benefit I personally see in the SLP kit is the huge weight loss, and unless you are a diehard mountain rider (doubtful on a switchback) the gains are less favorable than the consequences.

I am not bashing SLP, I personally love many of their products, but not impressed with the loudness of their pipe combo for this sled or the slight gains by its use.

I didn't think the slp reflash voided the warranty anymore. My dealer isn't voiding warranty. The slp pipe combo is a noticable improvement over the stock crap that is on there from factory.I run the dynoport with slp airbox and it smokes a stock 900 very bad.

I was over on the SLP site a couple days ago, the warning about voiding the warranty is still listed.

I know the dealer must enter the serial number of the sled into the digital-wrench program to download the new mapping, and I was under the impression that this voids the warranty directly in the Polaris main-frame system.
Some guys have used serial numbers from wrecked sled as a counterfeit number to get this mapping and retain their warranty.

Check with Polaris so you don't get pinched by a non-coverage issue! that would really suck losing a warranty because your dealer didn't know any better

when i ordered the pipe from SLP they told me not to worry about the warranty because they have not had one blow up yet as a result of the reflash, so I just took my chances. I have used SLP products in all my sleds and have never had a problem in the past so im not to comcernd
