I have a 94 formula III 2 up. Is there a way to change from a pump style primer to a switch style primer ?

You mean a switch style choke?
I don't know if there was such a sled as a 94 FIII, I thought the first FIII was the 1995 model year. A 1995 model will have october/november 1994 stamped on tunnel as the build date...
Anyways, check to see if the chokes are on the carbs, if there is, there will be two cables going to each of them. One coming out the top (which is the throttle), then the other one coming out the carb body. The one on the carb body is the choke, it'll have a brass fitting on the end of it where you can use a wrench to take it off.
If you don't have the one coming out on the sides of the carbs, you'll probably have to replace the carbs with the '96-up style that have the chokes in them.
