I just got my plate from Brad so I figured I'd go a rough mock up of the motor and pipes. Big problem is the front right mount is exactly in the way of the waterpump (96 Ultra bottom) Have you guys with this style motor shimmed them up 1/2" + to clear the water pump or what?? It'd work great if that hole was 2-3" towards the recoil. I don't know how much of a PITA it'd be to move one of those steel threaded pieces that are riveted in the bulkhead....

For right now I just took the pump off and the pipes fit pretty awesome (hot seat, gen II's). Just have to make room for one at the left shock tower. The only bad thing is they wrap around all over and I can't use the cross brace...will have to figure something out once other issues are done.

maybe you could make a diffrent cross member that goes with the pipes, i think the pro x need the bracing to stiffen up the front, wery cool sled this one.. :beerchug:

very interesting build. I like it a lot.

I have given the brace issue a lot of thought. I see no reason why the brace can't be relocted to the front or back of the shock tower, as high as possible. You are on the right track by mocking it up first. No point in welding in a brace and them having to cut it out again.

I would keep the engine as level as possible so you would want to shim both sides. There is less vibration with a triple (compared to a twin) so it should not be a huge issue on your motor mounts. Did you go with a stiff rubber mount? I had ProxEngineer fab my mounts and he was pretty adamant about using stiff durometer mounts.

check out the cluster of pipes in the way :fluffy: Getting a brace will be last on my to do. I've gotta get the motor all bolted down and then the over-the-motor steering done first.

It'll be trial and error for what shims go where. Will have to compromise between carb angle and pipe fitment. I'm really shooting for the least amount of pipe modification as possible. Mounts are 3 stock prox ones on the rear and stock ultra ones up front. Need a custom bushing for the front ones too. Chassis is drilled for 3/8" holes and the bushing has a 7/16" hole in it.

no kidding, that looks like you won't be getting a cross brace in there. You may have to reinforce both towers with individual braces.

especially the left one. I'm going to have to cut it out something like this to make room for the pipe:

you could maybe do som triangular supports from the middle to the front, doo rev style, if you know what i mean.. talk to AKiqpilot, he could have an idea that works... :beerchug: awsome with a triple triple in a pro xr chassie.. :div20:

Thats what I was thinking...getting a bar all the way accross just isn't happening. Could relatively easily (vs all the other crap) make some sort of triangulated support system.

Proxultra, I've already got that pic on my computer :div20: have saved every single one I find of a prox triple. Got any pics of your motor mounting?

How much hp is the 96 ultra going to be putting out? I cant it being more than a newer 700/800 twin VES with pipes dunno.gif

None the less, sweet build. Way more than what I would want to get myself into!!

Mines a 96 Ultra with an 800 big bore :div20: Once its together, and I get EGT's, I'm going to dyno tune it...going off of what others with very similar engines say it'll put out 170 hp or so on pump...190 with hi comp heads and race gas. It should haul my skinny ass around pretty good.

Always wanted a 440 chassis with a big motor....I think I've finally got a pretty sweet one
