I've been wondering for a little while now....what is the difference?? Is one better than the other for certain things, but not others?? I'm not looking at buying either one at the moment...just curious....
thanks!!!!

Basically the seat and the shocks. Shorty on the X2 and standard on the X. Ryde FX on ProX and Walker Shocks on the X2.

thats correct..along with the windshield too

I think prox2's may have had a larger lug track as well.

so would it be fair to say that the X2 is more like the XR, just with a larger, trail ready motor?

No the XR is a different chassis. A different steering hoop and the steering post comes over the engine to make it more rider forward.

If you are talking about the 800XR, the bars are noticably further forward than the prox and X2 - which have the same positions. The X2's shorty seat is taller than the prox but not as tall as the 800XR. The X2 seems to fit into a small niche between the std prox and the limited edition 800XR. In my opinion it is closer in feel to the std prox than the XR.

Differences between X2 and X.
Graphics
Windshield
Handguards
Shocks (Walkers, which most shock experts like less than the Rydes)
Hollow drive shaft on the X2

That about sums it up. the XR rocks, it will take a pounding. Walker evens shocks are JUNK. stick with ryde fx.

xr versus x2
bars are about 3 inches farther forward and the seat is 3 inches taller. sway bar on the x2 and not the xr. walker evans shocks are the same except different valving and different front spring's and rear torsion springs. x2 has the hollow driveshaft. xr has a 121x14x1 3/8 track and x2 has a 121x15x1 1/4 track. no front bumper on the xr and reverse on the x2's but you can put it on the xr for about $110. i have both and the xr is much more fun to ride if you like to ditch bang hard, but the x2 has sharper handling characteristics.
