For me, on my next NEW sled
1. For the higher milage guys on the cold cold days, electric visor!
2. Good traction control (studs and aggersive tracks)
3. Good steering products (Shaper bars come to mind)
4. Clutching products
I like to leave the engine alone, I have spent enough on pistons!! LOL
I guess it comes down to what you are doing with the sled. Racing it, hill climb, trail ride.
Mountian guys are getting NOS and some have turbo kits.
Ice guys are punch their engines to silly HP numbers just for 660 feet of woohoo.
It all comes down to what your doing.

I'm thinking along the same lines as ZRRider.
#1, electric visor is by far my BEST investment.
#2 & #3 are sort of inter-related since traction effects steering. Finding the balance is the key.
I'll add extra storage for map's etc. The high-milers need more supplies onhand to cover for unforseen events when away out there and

Nice sled but I'm thinking a functional windscreen would be the first order of business for anyone riding an APEX (in winter).

On my new to me 2001 SX700R
1) Track (bearings and chain case seal incl.)
2) Tank bag
3) Saddle bags
4) Hitch
5) Sno Grips
6) Sno Slips
7) New belt
I know my list sounds lame but I use my sleds for everything and we have to sled in to our cottage through out the winter. It doesn't affect the Fun Factor of on trail or off trail riding!

Heated visor for sure. No heated visor - no go.
Studs and carbides so ya don't slam into the rest of the studded group.
Muffs, ya I know they're old school but at -30 and your heated grip pukes you'll love it.
Tunnel or good Saddle bags, fresh gitch and minimal bar tabs are a must !
Oil caddy, beats the hell out of worrying about the junk you had to put in and how long to burn it off.
GOOD gloves, frosbite sucks.
Spare belt & plugs, duh.
Travel cover, I prefer a clean, ice free dash and controls type of sled in the morning. Iceless airbox intake is a plus too.
Clutch parts or kit to be sure she's ready by the next w/end
Maps, maps and more maps !
:beerchug:
After reading Freeze's post I gotta add:
A small strap on mirror for your left hand and a Hyper Swipe. Great little squeegy for wiping the visor clean, after last seasons weather it is a must from now on.
Thin cotton fag mitties, when the freezin rain sticks to yur visor you can clear one side at a time without stopping as the heat from yur hand melts the ice and the cotton won't scratch the visor.

for my phazer(last year), sno slips, and a seat cover was all i needed, besides regular maintenece. this year i think a motor might be the best acessory.
i never liked the heated visor, it would never work right, never actually melted anything off my shield, i couldnt ride with the visor down anyways, and when i could and the helmet started to work the plug would fall out.
for my kawi this year i plan on adding a rope, and a 4 spare plugs, i hope thats all im going to need this year, and the rope is for towing others of coarse. and mabee a windshiel if i can find one, but ill probably ride without it.

I cant believe no one mentioned a hot dogger yet

This post just made me think of something, I still have a couple Burton Stove To Go's kicking around from trucking, before I had a nuker in the truck. By no means fast but throw some left overs in and with in a 1/2 to an hour (depending on what your reheating) it's ready to go, I used to stock the truck fridge with those little Michellina pasta dinners, from frozen they were about hour.
So if you guys are ripping down the trail this winter and you smell a spicy crawfish gumbo up a head, dont worry your not in the south ....... it's just me cooking up the trail

< key to a good gumbo

Hey Gunny your a fairly big guy buy the looks of it, I haven't heard much input from big guys on the Tek Vest, hows the comfort level for you ????? I'm seriously thinking about getting one but I'm wondering if it'll just end up in the corner of the shop unused because it's to uncomfortable.

Hi Nutter,
I am 270 LBS and the vest fits perfect, no mobility issues at all...the only complaint I have is that it makes wearing a Camelback a bit of a pain....but otherwise....I put this on, or I dont get on the machine...Saved my life easily twice already.
I think the comfort level is supurb....the only other issue I think I have is when I stand up and turn around, my helmet sometimes hooks the collar...nothing serious..
I think I ran into you in the Ganny last season, you and another guy where guying some lost people...anyhow if I run into you this year, you cant test it out.

I never tried heated visor. Popular lids with heated visors usually are sealed poorly and give you frostbite. I opt for a good lid and visor and my no-fog. I love that thing, makes windshields obsolete IMO.
