Hey all,
Both the handle bar heaters on my 2000 Mxz 700 are not working. The thumb warmer does work. is their anyway of testing before I have to go out and buy new heaters for both bars?? I am only suspicous because its both of the handle bars that do not work. The wiring looks ok as far as I can tell anyway

It sounds like the switch or wiring to the switch. Find the wiring to the switch an identify the contacts (there should be three - power coming in, low heat going out and high heat going out. Assuming all connections to this switch are good, unplug them and test the switch with a mutli-meter. With the switch on low heat you should have continuity between power in & one of the other contacts. On high heat you should have continuity between power in and the 3rd contact. If the switch checks out, start your sled and measure the voltage between the power in wire and chassis ground. You should see around 12volts here. If not you may have a bad connection or broken wire somewhere.
Hope this helps!

my buddy who owns a honda/yamaha shop says they test bad hand warmers by hooking them to a 8amp or larger battery charger to see if they heat and then go from there.............nice tip for all of us.

I guess when the sleds are on fire (literally) like last year the bars are nice and warm.
