why did the mag and ctr holes go away.. was it a lean burn down? What happened??
I would not worry so much about the .020 over.. I would be more concerned as to why it happened in the first place..
Right Roger.
I own a 94 Storm. Bought it new. Turbocharged it right away. Have worked on many moded and stock Storms.
The main question is: Where do the carbs bowl vents go? Airbox, handlebars, behind engine just hanging down, no airbox, what type of airfilters? This greatly influences jetting.
These early Storms were very difficult to get jetted right partly because of the larger MAG cyl crankcase volume and a crankcase that's really too large for 800 cc. The factory was having fits with this engine.
These 94s used 1.8 mm float needles/seats and had a tendancy to flood at low rpm. This caused misinterpretation of jetting correctness, often leading to lowering mains too far. Replace with 1.5 mm VITON type.
Once back together, jet it to the rich side, then slowly test run it at various throttle positions, constantly reading spark plugs and piston wash. An EGT gauge is also a valuable tool for this, but due to slow burning combustion characteristics, reads up to 1450 degrees even with correct jetting.
Good luck
Phil
