Got a 04 Prox 700 that is running fat and can't keep up with an old 02 xc800! I would like to run a lil more on top but am really looking to improve mpg's in the trails. Besides adding a ripsaw track1.25 x 15 x 121 w 192 studs, sled is still stock. Anyone have personal experience with the correct set-up for this machine? Thanks for any help.

get rid of some of those studs, that's hurting your topend and with the ripsaw you just don't need that many unless you are ice dragging it... if sled is totally stock drop at least two main sizes, add 2g of weight to the primary and an almond/blue spring (stock secondary config actually isn't that bad) and gear it down at least one tooth on the top sprocket and i'd add another 1-2 teeth on bottom as well, if you're chain will let ya... then install tempa-flow or attac to manage your jetting, you should be able to get 13-14mpg out of that combo and it'll run great all the way down to -20°F

the 02.s, 7 and 8,s are faster the then the other years, so dont feel bad if you cant keep up ,

Thanks for the input guys. What's to installing tempa flos? Is it a cut and splice? Is a lighter can gona help me? Been thinking about getting 1. I gota boost bottle laying around the garage that I never installed on the 02 xc800. Should I put that on too? Sorry to say the studs are gona stay. All dbl diggers and I made a layout error soooo... It does have an awesome hole shot!!!

leave the boost bottle off the sled, doesnt do anything.

Can won't help.
Those studs will slow down the already weak top end the PROX has.

Bonz's post is right on.

420 main jets and 64gr primary weight is the key to waking up the stock 700.
Big difference here in accelaration and MPG.
With that track and stud combo you may as well gear down and enjoy the holeshot.
24/41 is good, even a bit lower will still shift out and be wicked on the accelaration.

Any properly setup XC 7 or 8 will have slightly better top end than the PROX....just the way that chassis runs.
Enjoy the handling/suspension/bulletproofness/Fun and overall Coolness of the PROX for what it is.
Take him, or any other sled, into the bush and dirty stuff and if you're up to it the PROX will allow you to leave em for dead!!

The next best things to do after jetting and dialing in the clutching and gearing, which will be a big improvement in accelaration and overall running, is gutting the airbox and or reeds.
The 700 responds well to either and both together is great.
Vforce work very well in the 700 and Boysen petals also work good.
The gutted airbox is a proven small HP improvement but does cause some intake noise issues, snowdust/water ingestion probs and can require some carb tuning above basic tuners skills.

Search the PROX 700 jetting/clutching stuff......lot's of solid setups/advice

All great advice. I've done all this stuff to mine and it runs so much better. I just wish I could get my mitts on Bonz's Hyperlite!
bonz50
talk to hot rod rooster over at snowest, i think he knows where you can get new ones... price is a bit stiff, like 575, but worth it imho...
U-Con
Check on www.sledpro.com, they list hyperlites-$699.

Drop at least half of those studs, you should gain at least 3-5 mph just doing that alone. Tracks with small holes won't hurt.

tracks with big holes won't hurt either!!!!! grin.png
