if you have an 04/05 i would definatly recommend 10.4" secondary. it stops a lot fo the slipping belt problems that were associated with the early DD's.

also when you say stock class, are you racing in sactioned races of do you mean stock appeariong so your buddy doesnt know?

RULES
Stock Class
Allowable changes are jetting, clutching(weights, springs, etc. must use original clutch),gearing, lowering and aftermarket air filters.the 10.4 secondary would be allowed. Any suggestions would be greatly apreaceated :beerchug: :div20:
7zPolCatRacer
when you run the 10.4 secondary you will need a longer belt to compensate for the bigger clutch. i will have to look which one i used. also you should remove the nylon spacer from inside the secondary srping becasue they have been know to stop the clutch from shifting out fully. aolso if you use the o4/05 style helix with the nylon spring adjuster you will need different shims that go under the helix(part#0648-650) I think i stacked 3 of them under mine because of the longer travel of the 10.4 secondary.

gearing will make a big difference as well. probably something around the 60/60 range but dd gears are pricey...
liftedandgifted
627-045 belt with 10.4 sheeves
7zPolCatRacer
i ran an 028 belt i believe because its a softer compound and besides having a 10.4 secondary he will still have an 8.5 primary instead of and 8.25 on the '06 model year
ZR900bigbore
mine is a 2005 so far I,m thinking 10.4 secondary, clutch kit, 85 gram weights, 045 belt, 244 studs not sure what helix to use I heard a couple of people say 68/52 and 10 tooth driver please keep the suggestions going thanks :beerchug: :div20:

Here's an easy mod from Bikeman.

B4 you pay someone to possibly destroy [u]a 300$pipe...find someone who has ACUTALLY tried this mod and demostrated a gain..BTW where is the dyno sheet to back this up,.???BTW ..clutches ,traction aids, and restrictive air box issues are the mods done correctly that make this gem fly..ther is NO shortage of HP on this 900.

You adding any weight to your primary?
I'm tempted to try the 10.4 and the pipe mod, one side of the brain says mod it, and the other says stay stock remember the 93 EXT you modded :drunk:

not yet, I already have my own clutch set up and it has 78 gram wts. Tim at BMP thinks I will make some RPM with my power increases. I have to run it first to see if im at 76-7700 rpm. I think Im going to schedule some dyno time over in TRF soon.

78 gr. wts. that seems light, my 05 has 83's stock, I would probably go to 85's on mine with the mod as the guy at BMP told me it will rev higher with the pipe mod.
Jetboy
Your primary dia. is larger and you have larger wts. My 900 is an 03. it came with 71 gram wts.

OK your almost 10% heavier than stock, when are you going to TRF for the dyno? I'd like to see what you picked up with the pipe mod.
Jetboy
Im going to call Black Magic to see when or if I can come over. I had 152hp stock last year. Still waiting for the reeds to show up and BMP still has my Y pipe. I think they forgot to ship it back with the heads and pipe. dunno.gif :smilielol:

My buddies pipe below (03 zr9). There is a slight difference in the length. I had to mod the mounting holes for the stock muff to fit again. The difference is about 7/16th in at the back of the heat cover and the tail pipe.

I'm debating whether I'm going to do it or not dunno.gif Pipe looks good in the pics.
Jetboy
They don't paint the pipe, but they offer the ceramic coating for around $50.00 . I used high temp duplicolor header paint with ceramic in it. I'll see how it works.
ZR900bigbore
I've heard something about air box mods does any body know about these mods thanks
Jetboy
Bullseyes, TPI's and/or D&D power breather. Gutting the horns and shelf is about all I know of.
ZR900bigbore
