I have the chance to pick up a wedge 500 sks that is in good shape and has like 1500 miles on it. i could probably get it for under a grand. i would be getting it for just a cheap basher. would it be worth it? are they any good off the trail? thanks for any input.

I've got a friend with one, maybe a couple of years newer. A good machine as far as I know. Just upgraded to the 06 switch from a 97 xlt sks. Wow what a difference.

a 10 year old sled with 1,500 miles. for under a grand? even if the thing is corroded to the point of it breaking into 2 pieces, you could still get your money back on the sled by parting it out.
Get it, go through it to be sure it is safe and reliable, and ride it!!

I ran one for 2 seasons quite a while back.
It was a great sled, as were all my Indy 500's.
As long as your expectations are not too steep for the sled as far as suspension goes it will be a great sled.
They are actually pretty quick and handle well.
