I stopped by saturday and all seemed well. They were changing over the showroom. I asked where the new helmets were and he said they were supposed to be in soon with their clothes. He had 2 new 07's on the floor.

Brian that's not Cat taking the inventory it's the finance company, Dextron isn't it? Otherwise Cat would have to go to every dealer and take back all their leftovers and that's not going to happen. Bob found somewhere else to get financing for the 07' inventory.

he told me they all headed back to cat and will go to salvage most likely.... cat has to do something as they cant keep losing dealers in the northeast ... they did the same thing with the cat dealer in pittsburg, took the whole floorplan back and now they are still a dealer but have no current sled inventory..cat ownes a huge share of the finance company anyway (like 90%)
maybe houlton cat will chime in and tell us more details on the floorplan deal.. far as i know its same as a car dealership (with less dealer incentive)......

Most likely will show up at Eastern Power sports auction Wednesday, I've seen a bunch of dealer stuff there lately.

doubt Cat has anything to do with Textron itself, other than use them as the flooring company.. They probably buy them back from textron for way less. Textron prob. has insured policies against us as dealers, if this happens.. so probably no one loses.. except the PITA aspect... Then the dealer must find his own way to finance the sled inventory.. and that place won't take em back.. I bet a 1 shot deal, then your screwed..

Maybe Wildcat will be more resonable on their pricing if they get a second chance. I use to buy everything there when Paul Bernier owned it. After Bob bought it he was about 1000.00 per sled higher than anyone else. Then he lost Rodney, probably the best Cat tech in this part of the country.

where is that auction?

it's in Conneticut owned by the same people that run Southern Auto Auctions. 38 sleds coming up this Weds. If you know someone registered at Southern Auto they can get online and see the inventory, my contact is out this week and they only give a summary without being registered

Under Maine Franchise Law, a manufacturer can not offer a program (like buying back non-current inventory) to one dealer without offering it to all dealers. If that did happen (Cat taking back all the sleds), they are going to have lots of dealers standing in line to get the trucks coming their way. I am lucky to not be one of them as we have very few leftovers.
I am glad Wildcat is still around and hope they have a great year.
