Hmmmm, wonder if mom would fly up to watch the kid so I could go on that!
HYFLYR
My grandpa who is going with us fly's up from Michiganevery year just for this trip. He loves it.

Im not overly excited about the trip but it will be fun to ]get out and ride with the folks for a change. I cant think of the last time I went 165 miles one way in a day, should be interesting. :div20:

I have a buddy that does it every year, he say's it's a blast and you get to meet a ton of new people. I'm not quite sure my mountain sleds can handle the hard pack for a couple hundred miles? :tease:

Tlrak,my dad goes every year and rides his rmk with 2" paddles and his track is still good after 4 years of doing the trip. The guys he rides with are all on mountain sleds too so i dont htink you will have a problem, especially from the pics i have seen of the ride. :div20:

We made the trip last year. Six mtn sleds, all w/2" paddles. The RMK and the M7 overheated at below zero temps. One guy had overheated the year before, so he installed an aftermarket radiator up in front of the exhaust pipe of his RMK 800 (nice installation). He was fine, but his buddy w/ the RMK 700 decided to save his money and overheated.......We went on the first run and had -29 temps. The next group had it even colder. I think we are gonna do the first run again this year. Once again I will be one of only about 4 Yamahas in a group of 200 riders. Makes it easier to find my sled in the crowd...........

I'm not so much worried about the Apex oveheating, the radiator fan has never come on. But the hyfax have been an issue a couple times last year already, 16"x162" track runs the hyfax hot on the shortest trail runs. I don't spend alot of time on the trail anyway and im switching to hyperfax slides. :div20:
I'd have to see what my schedule was like then, but it could be fun!!! :fluffy:

Try running some ice scratchers. Should help.

I rode a Mt Cat (136"x 1.75") over 5000 miles on trails in the lower 48 w/ no real problems. I also run the rivers alot and have never overheated a sled but have gotten the hyfaxs hot. Just need to know when to dive for the loose stuff.

I have 2 F series Snopros w/ 1.7 paddles and 2 w/1.375 paddles all run with in about 5 to 10 degrees of each other.

If worried about the hardpack and paddles, try scratchers and track screws. The scratchers will help the hyfax and the screws will help with sled cooling. :div20:

I'm in...trying to decide which ride. Also trying to convince my brother to come up.

yes scratchers are the way to go keeps your sled cool and keeps the hyfax happy and they are cheep ! and you can put them up in the powder just remember to put them up when you reverse! lol!!!

are you down south? or did you put off the trip?

so i was just wondering what time of the year is the best to go becuse i want to be able to have fun and not just be cold.....but any way some people were saying that there was like a guide that u have to follow and that you cant go off the trail and stuff like that ..i just want to no the truth..

thanks
akeddie
they have a cleanup crew that comes after and makes shure no one is stranded but you can tear the ditches up and goof off but it is a long ride dont run out of gas fooling around they dont haul your sled back just you ! had a few break downs last year they dont refund if your sled does not make it there . one fuel break thats it , i would say go when it is cold less of a crowd and sleds run cooler, it is a long fast run 80+ mph so keep your hyfax cool

this trip is 190 miles long no guide you leave town when you want you arive when you want, it is up to you, most people leave town early an the fact that the trip is long, not to many people get very far of the trail [most stay on it ] there will be a clean up crew to get you back to a warm place to stay for the night
most of the people that go on the trip go with a buddy for safty, every person is on there own, "it is not a group that goes an comes" this trail is out in the boon dock's that can be miles from the nearest help, there is a little space along the trail to play but not a lot, for the most part it is less than 50 feet, on either side of the road good luck an be safe .Sid :burp:
