My friend of mine is considering the purchase of a 03 sks 700
but is worried about the performance of this sled and keeping up.
what's the top end of this sled look like??
Will it keep up with
01 edge 600 136
97 mxz 670
98 xcr 700
99 xc 700
I told him that it should be really close.
So far my mxz 670 walks all over everyone
up untill over speedo hits 100 + and the xc and xcr
will creep by

I own a SwitchBack 700 preety much the same sled except for mine comes with DET, Team clutch and PERC options. I swaped out my team clutch for a Polaris Button clutch. I didn't really fool around with it to much due to lack of snow but it did run allot better than the team clutch so what worked for me should work for your budy. Tell him to run 21/37 gear 1.76 ratio with a Polaris Almond/Red 165/310 primary spring, a Polaris Silver/Blue 41/75 secondary spring with a Polaris R12 50/36 helix with Polaris 10-64 weights ground down to 63.5 grams. Tell him to get his tack Calibrated for 8000 rpm and i will bet that no one will take him on top end. Easy 110 miles perhour on the speedo with a 220 pound driver. I weight 360+ pounds and still had it at 105 MPH on the speedo. I run 0 to 2000 feet and was running 430 main jets with a gutted airbox. Give 04XC700OWNER a pm his budy has one and it's preety fast also do a search on this form alot of good information about these sleds. :div20:

A dialed in 03 700 SKS should tow all of those sleds listed.
My 03 700 SKS does....and more!
I have run several Polaris 700 twins since a 98XC,99XC,01XC,03PROX and 03SKS.
This SKS is one of the best runners of the lot.
There are F7,XC7,XCR7,REV8,REV6,MXZ7,Fusion6,ZR8, to mention a few in my last year's riding gang and none of these could get ahead of my SKS in trail conditions 0 to 90 or so.
The dirtier the conditions the better I do too!
The F7 gets by wayyy up top, in the rare occasion we get up there.
Mine ran last yr like this here @ sea level in ontario.
Stock motor and airbox.
420 mains, stock middle needle position, stock reeds.
23/40 gears
Primary Polaris almond blue and Polaris 64gr weights
Polaris 1080 belt
Stock button secondary with Polaris R12 ( 50/36) and Polaris silver blue
This year will see an SLP single and Boysen reeds setup if I keep it.
I ran the SLP single and Vforce reeds in my 03 PROX7 with great results.
PS The SKS handled great too, even in tight trails and was typical POLARIS bulletproof reliable too!
Pay close attention to clutch/motor alignment, belt deflection and torque stop snugness.
Run the track as loose as you can without ratcheting in your conditions.
That 144 will slow down big time if it's too tight and or dry!

Mine goes just under 100 mph, but it's been geared downed for the mountains. It's been a great sled, just make sure you get the shocks rebuilt if it has high miles; made a world of difference. It works great in deep snow just doesn't climb as well as as a pure mountain sled, but your back will thank you on the bumps.

Ebay! I've purchased alot of of accessories on there, SLP can for less that $100 brand new, windshields for $30, Stud Boy shaper bar carbides for a mere $15, you name it they have it for a steal. Also don't just stick to looking for SKS parts either. Since it's an edge chassis, almost all the parts from any edge model will fit, plus the SKS and RMK are almost identical. Motofrugals.com has good deals, Dennis Kirk.com, Hiperf.com There's tons out there, but don't forget your local shops/dealers as well. I usually get great discounts at some of the local shops, plus I use the shops to gain local knowledge, meet new riders and just hang. You hang out long enough they'll end up giving you a killer deal just to get you out of their store.....

Jetting no but the clutching will probably be close. You will have to drop a couple of grams from 64 grams to 60's maybe 62's and run something around a 1.75 to 1.80 ratio. PM Pocket on this site he knows everything about Polaris Sleds.
