ZR9 ReV EaTeR
I have a 03 ZR9 ,seems like my belt is slipping when i take off from a dead stop..Im also revving 7500rpm.I'm using a 60/54helix,74gram weights,A D&D red/white primary ,240studs and i put 24/43gears in it.Im thinking i may have geared to low and its making me over rev,or my belt is slipping in the high rpm's also.I'd like to get it to turn up 7250-7300rpm..set my secondary spring on the 1 hole and still over revving....Anyone have any input??
ScottyR
What is the tension of that primary spring? Try a yellow/white AC spring and see if that changes anything.
ZR9 ReV EaTeR
Im not sure what the tension is on the spring..I bought it in a kit..but with that helix and those weight's it shouldn't be over revving like it is..im thinking belt, gearing or dirty clutch's..what do you guys use to clean you clutch's??

it dont matter what u do,still wont bet a f8 with that set up.i smoked 2 900's so far and one of them took their's to the dealer to trade 4 a f7.but mabey try a green cat spring that might work.terible belt slippage out of the red/white spring

ScottyR the tension on that spring is 190/330..Im gonna try stock gearing, give my clutches a cleaning and a new belt, both of my belts are glazed badly....

Ok just my 2c, but with any high performance clutch kit, I've never had the stock belt hold up. I'm running a Dayco belt and haven't had a prob, with my stock belt I turned my clutch faces black..."greased" them as you put it.

Stokc belts are just too soft IMO.

btw, try yo undergear it, like the 800' gear to 25/38....the engine has more than enough power to pull the gears.

I Wouldn't put much faith in your tach..mine was out 300rpm when i had it calibrated
FIRECAT SPANKER
make sure the belt is in the clutch properly make sure that it is sitting up about 1/4 inch above the clutch

I tried 74 gram weights in my zr 900,The revs were higher than stock. The profile must have been different, but it looked the same.I had best luck with stock weights and a softer engine clutch spring.

there is an artical in snotech about people glazing and burning belts from cold takeoffs on the 03 zr900 so they recomended a different belt other than the stock 627-020 but off hand i don,t know which # they recommended try outdoor shop (dan ) i know he knows good luck firecats_rule.gif

belive it or not.i take off my belt every night and keep in the house.what a big difference...al...

that set up works well with a red white secondary in the 4th hole. weight profile has a lot to do with clutching the 900's

F-8 it looks like you're being sought out! ooh4.gif

I found with stock set up that the AC orange white worked way better than the purple. ylsuper.gif

guys i am trying different setups. we do have timing lights to set up but not enought SNOW. in my 900, 72.5 gram daltons,yellow/green,58/54 helix,red/white 4 hole.just from set of pants pulls HARD. engagement is low to load motor, helps a little with track spin.

95% chance your not pulling 7500! Have your dealer Calibrate your Tach or a performance shop.($20 at most)
You can also run the 0627-021, It's a Softer Compound which should solve your slipping problems. Belt in Driven clutch needs to sit No Higher then 1/8 inch above Driven Sheaves, Any more then that will cause Bog at take-off.
Check track tension, Too much tension will cause Rolling Resistance which will add to your slipping Problem.
Need to also check Clutch Alignment, Center to Center, Off-Set and Deflection. All the above will Compound your problem, Plus some.
Good luck!!!! :banghead:
