I have a 2004 proxr800 and the neck is cracked under the cap.I have heard this is common.Would this be a warranty issue?How much is a new tank?Thanks

It probably is a warranty fix, give your dealer your VIN number, it can be verified easily.

Is there a recall on the 04 proxr 440 tank also? Mine leaks at the filler.

yes i think pritty much all the 2004's had a recall....mine cracked wen i was riding and leaked gas all on my new snow pants....took it in and the fixed it!

Probably not, as this sled was intended for the race track, not the consumer (no warranty). If you're riding with the small tank, there are loads of them available cheap from guys who did trail conversions. If you have a big tank, its not "original equipment" and technically has only the 30 day warranty service parts have. Unless you're a "good customer" with your dealer and bought the tank new from him, you're probably SOL. Personally, I think Polaris should replace them whether they came on sleds or were service parts, no questions asked. Its a pretty serious safety hazard and it isn't always obvious the tank has failed until you get a nearly full tank of fuel and a rough trail. At that point, you've just splashed fuel all over yourself and the sled.

Most 04`s got either a new tank or a filler neck brace if it was not cracked yet.
I got a notice in the mail for mine from polaris.
