NDMtnSledder
Nice pictures. I've been sking for 2yrs now at my inlaws cabin almost every weekend atleast once and finally starting to get the hang of it. They all slalom so it was a given that I had to learn when I got marriend and had never skied before that. Heres a pic of my fatherinlaw he's 56yrs old and goes ever weekend from when they open the cabin tell they bring the boat home in oct.

Me obviously still learning lol. My specialty right now is crashing. Had a nasty one the last weekend I went they said i need a different ski now. I went out and turned back in and all i remeber is the tip catching and flying through the air and they said it looked like the ski couldn't make the corner as fast as I wanted it to or something. All I know is it hurt.

Wife and I going double.

03F7 Patriot don't use that as an excuse its a blast to do and I thought that at first as i'm a lil over 250#s but with some bigger skis once I got the hang of it its not problem. I can even get up behind the jetski now. Its mostly just a matter of convincing yourself that you can do it.
Matt
Nice pics man. How do you like the System 8? I thought it was too soft for me, but I go about 6'5" 220. I'm on a Monza now and it screams. I got deep into 28 this year. Hoping to get through 32 next season.

Are those Fogman bindings?

Here's a pic from a couple years back on my old CDX.

Simonm24
Unfortunately(for some reasons) it is winter time and I cant get any pics up for you. I can get all 6 buoys at 22'off. That is my best, I got much more into barefooting this season. Matt, you must be nasty, 32' is tough, I can get a few at 28. I ski a KD 7000CF. I love it.
FIRECAT SPANKER
I just started skiing the coarse last year... cant get too many yet. I have been salom skiing for about 12 years I am skiing on a 2004 Conelly F1
Molen Labe
I can slalom but not very good I participate in all the wakesports
Wakeboarding
Wakeskating
Wakesurfing
And the occasional barefooting long line or on a leader off a boom
Then I participate in the fuck all the fisherman over campaigne where you go and do circles around them till they sink.

Just Kidding to the above statement just eems to be a stero type i have had fisherman flick me off cut me off cast at me and call the DNR stupid little mothers

i had the monza for a year, then the system 8, i though that the monza was good at first but the problem is that it is such a fast ski that it allows you to get lazy and loose good body form. i had some problems and skied on my brothers system 8 for a month while HO's fucked up thing they call a company got me a new one. i got the new monza and absolutely hated it so ended up on the system 8 for the rest of the year. I thought the system 8 was better for sure but i still think it has a lot to be desired. This year I am on the Connelly F1 and after skiing on it once back in october i was skiing just as good if not better on it.

those bindings are approach but i am looking into fogmans for this year

I haven't found the Monza really makes me lazy. It is easy to get out of shape on it though cause you're right. It is SO fast. Personally, I don't like how finicky the Monza or S8 are regarding fin setup. What works great on one lake will suck on another. I'm waiting for the new Fischers to come in a 70 inch size and trickle in to the used market. That ski is making a lot of noise in the industry now.

i havnt heard much about the fischer yet but the few people that i have talked to that skied on it said it was ok. the other skis that are making lots of noise are the RADAR skis. Ive also gotten the inside scoop on annother ski that is soon to come out that i have no doubt that will be awesome!

Maybe you guys would have some advice for me like I said last fall I need a slalom ski. I've been looking and talking to a few people but still haven't quite decided. I'm 250#s and just slalom around the lake its fairly unlikely that I'll ever ski a course and along ways from being good enough to at this point. So far I haven't been able to get up one but that is my goal for this spring but i'll be getting a toe plate for now until I get the hang of it. I don't ski real agressively but getting better with lots of practice so don't want something that next year i'm going to want to upgrade from. The ski that keeps coming up so far is a HO Comp Freeride Charger and i've also considered a Triumph but no one locally knows anything about it. I haven't got much info on any other brands either being my family is pretty biased towards HO and the local places i've stopped at keep referring me to the Comp Freeride which I figured was a good sign its what I should go with. Just wanted another opinion and thanks in advance. Also does anyone have a place that they've had good service and prices getting skis from and wakeboards for that matter to as we need to find one for my wife yet this spring.

I would also recommend the Comp/Freeride series from HO. It's a very forgiving learner's platform that can take you into well into the longer line lengths in the slalom course. At your size, you're probably better off going with an RTP rather than a rear boot. Learning to get up double booted from the start can be tricky for larger individuals, and you'd likely kill someone with the handle recoil into the boat if you biffed the deep water start. grinning-smiley-023.gif

I would recommend looking at www.ski-it-again.com if you're thinking used or www.wileyski.com. Call Wiley's. They have some great pricing on the Magnum and the Triumph. At 250 lbs, you'd want the Magnum if you went for the Comp/Freeride series. The Charger is too small for you.
NDMtnSledder
Thanks for the help. I planned to get a RTP and figured I can always add the rear boot if i get it figured out. So far I haven't managed to put the handle in the boat yet. Sounds like i'll be making a purchase soon grin.png. I can't wait to get back at it. Been bored for the last month or so can't sled, to cold to ride bike or go watersking, and we still can't get in the field with the recent snow so not much to do.

To cold for waterskiing? Never. Got two words for you...

DRY SUIT

been skiing the third week in Feb before, water temp was 45, air temp was 75...
NDMtnSledder
I got one word for you ICE lol. Last time i was out there the ice wasn't even off the lake completely but might be now. The warmest day we've had yet was today at about 60 for a high.

They boat my farther inlaw bought was used once a month in the winter on the mississippi down in the twin cities. They had to dump rv coolant in the system the second it came out of the water and break a path in the ice to get it in and out of the water. I"m not that die hard.

Another ski to consider. Ed O builds the finest portable slalom courses on the market. I've dealt with him in the past. His customer service is second to none.

Looks like you've got the hard part taken care of. You have your face off the water. Now you've just gotta get your feet closer together.

Crongrats your getting there !

Start bringing in your feet, put a little bend in those knees too. Make sure you do everything SLOW and you should be fine.
I only see a wet suit and barefoot shorts....I hope thats only because its cold ?

You may want to get NECKBRACE and fast, Neck injuries Suck Trust me I know.

Herniated C7 2 years ago, I no longer foot backwards and its killing me....not skiing backwards grinning-smiley-023.gif
Surgury Sucked as well !

Its one of the hardest things to learn but soooo much fun, I miss doing Back wakes and 1 foots.

I'm going back to footing this year but not backwards, my wife will kill me if I do !

2 at 35 off my personal best when I was younger and in one piece. that was with my old Synergy Z. Now I'm on an F1. I'm liking it ok but need to move the bindings from factory. I don't like where they are. Some one made mention of neck injuries. Mine I hurt three going on 4 years ago and it still hold me back from pulling. MRI didn't show anything either but its burns like hell when I pull hard and then headaches for days after. And no Deisel93 its not a hangover. LOL beer_cheers.gif
Drog01
back in the good old days when we had all the body parts in one piece. the only way to foot when you get my age is off the boom. These shots are from some of the local guys. Fun to watch them bust themselves up.

You'll have to let me know how you like it. I love the speed of my Monza but it's so damn picky about water temp and it's not the most forgiving stick...

Great pics guys! Brings back lots of memories. I was much younger and better looking then!

Still have my old 90s Connelly Concept Signature Series - flex tested an all. One of the old ones with the teal bottom.

I have not been on the water in probably 6 years. Actually, I would be lucky to be able to pop out with the double highwraps!

I know. She's a sweet girl too. She trains with Cory Pickos, a WI native. She makes it up here quite a bit actually since she has friends on the water ski teams here in WI (including my lil sis through whom I met Regina 2 summers ago at the Malibu Open). When she's not skiing the next day, she can party with the best of 'em too. grinning-smiley-023.gif An honorary Wisconsinite. Like most skiers, she's extremely down to earth. That's one of the things I love about this sport. Everyone I've met or had a chance to hang out with has been so cool. A former team mate of mine was roomates with Chris Parrish up until last year. I was charged with taking him out in DT Milwaukee the Thursday before the Malibu Open. That was fun... wish Regina would've come though! grinning-smiley-023.gif

Cory Pickos.....wow there is a name from days ago. he was a trick skiing machine and I'm banking on the fact he is probably still at it hard. He must make a great coach with all his talent. I know he has a school in Florida. As most of the big talents do.

Yep. Cory consistently places at or near the top at all the major events. I've never been to his school, but my little sis has (that's how she knows Regina as she coaches when she's not training). Great school for trick and slalom. They tend to be a little weak in jump instruction compared to some other schools.

Personally, I like Bennett's and Coble's.

A friend of mine has been to McClintock's, but to the camp they have up here in Canada on Puslinch lake, not the one in florida. Man that was years ago. A friend ended up scoring one of their old Mastercrafts for a good price. That boat has almost 1400 hours on it now. it turns over every time without a prime. It has been such a good boat and engine he was lucky.

I was going to get some pulls in last time I was in Orlando but the whole family was with us to visit Disney and I never got a session in. I should have gone to Sammy Duvall's joint right on the grounds at Disney, but hard to tear away form the family vacation to get an hour or two in. What's the word on that school, do they charge more for sets.
killer
I used to go to McClintock's in Cambridge all the time, only 45 min from me. Haven't been in years.. used to have some great coach's there. Jeff was a hard ass, but a great coach. Tommy Muir was an excellent coach and amazing skier who was pro for a few years... Judy Messer would coach in the summer and was delightful.. talk about a trick skier.

even got coached by doug ross once there. water is more like mud though... most disgusting lake I've ever been in...
fastrider
i havnt been there but i know most of the reputable places charge around 40-50 bucks a set. which isnt really too bad. but i believe jack travers is getting 80 a set, but from experience he is a phanominal coach

my favorite place by far is Ski Tek

got this on email today. cant hurt this much to feed the rope through the shock tube

Please check out the attached pictures of an injury that could have been
prevented with a shock tube. I know there have been attempts in the past to
use shock tubes at TL, but we are making it mandatory this year. We are
ordering a large number of Masterline Shock Tubes for the shop and ski
school, and there will always be one on the rope in the boat, but for those
of you who use your own rope, we will give you a shock tube for our cost
(which I believe is only about $10. That way you can keep one on your rope,
rather than having to feed it through every time you ski.

Please let me know if you have any questions. Also, save these pictures to
your computer so that every time you think that it is a pain in the butt to
use the shock tube, you will remember what the consequences are. This
driver couldn't talk for months due to the injury and the skier was only at
28 off.
